1. Mission Statement

Note: The following is taking directly from the game Mass Effect 3:
SUBJECT: Priority Mission: Eden Prime
From: Alliance Command
Commander,
Cerberus has attacked Eden Prime and is now occupying the colony. Alliance forces are stretched too thin right now to attempt to liberate the colony, but we’ve been doing what we can to covertly aid the local resistance.
In the process, we’ve learned that Cerberus has uncovered a major Prothean artifact. We don’t know what it is, but it appears to be the reason for the attack on the colony. We need you to infiltrate the colony and recover the artifact.
To access the DLC content, check Commander Shepard’s e-mail at the terminal to the left of the Galaxy Map. The preceding e-mail will be found. Once read, the coordinates for Eden Prime will be uploaded to the Galaxy Map. The mission summary will also be uploaded to Commander Shepard’s journal.
You can complete the mission at any time before engaging in the attack on Cerberus HQ, which is the “point of no return” for the game.

2. Priority: Eden Prime
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
Eden Prime is the planet that introduced everyone to the Mass Effect story in the very first game. It is the planet where Commander Shepard touched the Beacon that gave him the horrifying vision of the future Reaper invasion, and it’s what started the grand adventure that concludes in Mass Effect 3. The From Ashes DLC for Mass Effect 3 allows players to return to Eden Prime, recruit a new squad member, and have access to even more content.
Liara is a forced squad member for this DLC. Choose your team and then when you arrive on Eden Prime, there will be a linear path leading to a building. Head inside the building and make your way through it to the elevator. Interact with the controls on the elevator to raise the lift, bringing the gang a still-alive Prothean! What! OMG! Evidently, a Prothean put himself into stasis 50,000 years prior on Eden Prime. Unfortunately, Cerberus damaged the pod during the excavation process. And on cue, Cerberus swoops in to rain on the proverbial parade.
Take cover immediately. There will be a few Nemesis-type enemies with sniper rifles as well as a Centurion or two. I suggest using a sniper rifle to pick them off from afar, but if you feel as though you can dodge the bullets of the Nemesis enemies, then by all means, charge the suckers and lay waste to them. When they’re dead, run across the bridge to the fresh set of buildings.
Go through the building marked with a 9 on your right. When you exit this building through the other side, there will be a series of Cerberus troops ready to give you a headache. There will be Centurions as well as a few Combat Engineers. Take out the Combat Engineers first, before they are able to deploy turrets. Then kill the Centurions. There will be another lab building, this time one marked with a 6. Enter it, then go through the doorway inside. Then examine the controls to gather the data on the Prothean stasis pod.
Exit the lab and then go through the door directly across. Your squad will be disheartened to discover that this was actually a home of Eden Prime colonists, but they were brutally gunned down. Make your way through the home, then take cover as soon as you see stairs. A bunch of Cerberus soldiers will be at the ready. Battle them, and once they’re dead, go down the stairs and through the building marked with a 2. The door will be locked, so bypass it.
Walk outside onto the balcony and then go through the next door out here. Inside this room is another console with more information Cerberus took from the Prothean pod, detailing just what went down in the final days of their lives. Enjoy the show, then start making your way back to the pod. Unfortunately, there will be a lot more Cerberus troops to deal with. Slaughter them all as you fight your way back to the bridge that leads to the pod.
Once you reach the bridge, it will be discovered that Cerberus has wisely retracted the bridge, and an alternate route back to the pod is required. Facing the pod, turn to your left. You will see a ladder that leads up from the rocky surface of Eden Prime to the side of a building, which has another ladder built into the side of it. Head to these ladders and scale them both. On the roof, hop over the obstacles until you reach the far end, and there you’ll find another ladder. Slide down this one to be back on the other side of the bridge.
Interact with the pod. Afterwards, you’ll have to hold the position as waves of Cerberus troops attack. Defeat the first wave. If it seems like it’s taking a while for the next wave to come, go hunt down any stragglers that may be hiding. Then take cover and deal with the second wave. The third wave will see Cerberus employ an Atlas mech. Destroy this thing before it can get too close and corner you, then return your attention to defeat all the Cerberus troops.
There will likely be one or two more waves after that. Once Cerberus has been thoroughly defeated, return to the pod and interact with it again to meet Javik the Prothean. He’ll be hostile at first, but when he begins to realize what has happened, he agrees to fight the Reapers with the Normandy crew.

3. Eden Prime: Resistance Movement
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
There is a Side Mission available on Eden Prime that, if it is completed, will net you an achievement or trophy, if you’re playing the PS3 version. This Side Mission involves gathering Cerberus data from various consoles throughout the Eden Prime colony so Liara can use it to aid the resistance fighting against Cerberus.
Intel #1: The first building that you see will contain the first Intel. It’s located on a computer at the end of the building. Examine this computer to unlock the Side Mission as well.
Intel #2: Moving on, you will come across the stasis pod in which the long-lost Prothean is being kept. You will also face resistance in the form of Cerberus troops. After they’re dead, head over to their location. At the end of the bridge, there will be two buildings, one on your left, and one on your right. The building on your right will be labeled with the number 9, and the one on your left will have a number 5.
Go into building 5. Hug the left side of the building as you walk through it, and in the last room, you will find another terminal with more information about the Cerberus operations on Eden Prime. Examine the terminal to send the information to the Eden Prime colonists fighting back against Cerberus.
Intel #3: The third and final piece of Intel comes in the building marked with a 2. After leaving building 5, there will be stairs that descend. Across from these stairs is a set of buildings in which you are supposed to go for the main quest. If you have reached a section in which more Cerberus troops are attacking, you’re going the wrong direction.
Once inside building 2, head into the room with the very large computer terminal that lines the wall. In the middle of this terminal will be the orange markings that indicate it can be examined. Examine it to forward the Intel and complete the Side Mission!

4. Aftermath
- – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – -
With the mission on Eden Prime complete, Javik the Prothean is ready to join the Normandy crew to help fight against the Reapers. However, it will be brought to Commander Shepard’s attention that there is a “problem” with the new teammate. Javik is causing problems on the lower deck. The game will automatically take you there. You’ll have to have a conversation with Javik to get through this little rough patch in your relationship, but once it’s resolved, you’re free to return to the game.
If you check the Shepard’s terminal next to the Galaxy Map afterwards, Javik will have sent an e-mail. The e-mail requests to meet with him on the Citadel. Specifically, he wants to talk with you in the Embassies area of the Citadel. You’ll find Javik immediately to the left once you exit the elevator, staring out of a window at the Citadel. Speak with him to learn even more about the Prothean race.
Eventually, other species on the Citadel will take notice of Javik and they will start a conversation with him. Javik will become a bit pessimistic, and there will be a Paragon opportunity to make him be more positive when speaking to the other races on the Citadel. After you’ve done that, your interactions with Javik are pretty much completed. You can still chat with him on the Normandy, and of course take him out on missions to face the Reaper threat together.
