-Acquire Hardware (15G)-
Description: Smelt an iron ingot
Strategy: These achievement has multiple steps to it. The first thing you will need is a furnace. Go out and punch a tree until you have enough wood to craft a wooden pickaxe. Then go mining solid stone or gravel to collect stone blocks. When you have eight of these, use a crafting table to create a furnace.

Place the furnace wherever, but somewhere you can find. If you have a house, I would put it there. You now need to make a stone pickaxe. Create one using sticks, created from wooden slabs, which are created from wood, and by using three stone blocks. Once you have a stone pickaxe made, it’s time to go mining.

Dig deep. Find a mountainside and just dig like crazy. You may want to create more than one stone pickaxe, just in case you break one looking for iron. Iron is found deep in the world, but you can often find plenty in caverns. Once you find iron ore, the game will let you know when you have, you have to use a stone pickaxe or a pickaxe of higher value in order to mine it successfully without destroying it.

With iron ore in tow, return to your furnace. Press LT to interact with the furnace. Then drag the iron ore to the top space in the menu. There will be a fire symbol separating that top box from one below it. You need to place fuel in that box. Pretty much anything can be used as fuel. Wood is a good source, saplings work, wheat, whatever.

Then just sit and wait. When the arrow pointing to where the finished product arrives is filled, that means the iron ore has been smelted successfully and you’ll now have iron ingot as well as the achievement! To collect your iron ingot, click on it and drag it to your inventory.

-Bake Bread (20G)-
Description: Turn wheat into bread
Strategy: This achievement requires multiple steps as well. The first thing you will need is a hoe. To acquire a hoe, you need wood, or stone, or iron, or gold, or diamond, or whatever really. It takes less material to make a hoe than a pickaxe, so you really should have no problem crafting one at a crafting table.

When you have a hoe, the next step is collecting seeds. You can get seeds by breaking the grass that is scattered around the world. Not all of the destroyed grass will yield seeds, but when they do, quickly acquire them. Once you have seeds, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

The next step is to plant the seeds. Use the hoe on the ground by pressing LT to turn it into farmland. You can accomplish this anywhere, but it’s best to do this on soil near water (that is not sand). Then plant the seeds with LT. You have to wait a very long time, but eventually the seeds will grow into wheat. You can tell that they’re fully grown when they turn yellow and have brown circles at the top of their stalks. Plant as much wheat as possible, because you need at least three wheat crop to complete this achievement.

Harvest the wheat by mining it like anything else and then picking it up. When you have three of the wheat crop, go to a crafting table and create bread to unlock the achievement.

-Benchmarking (10G)-
Description: Craft a workbench with four blocks of wooden planks
Strategy: This is a very easy achievement. Get wood by destroying trees and then press X to enter the crafting menu. In this menu, convert the wood into wooden planks. Do this until you have four wooden planks, and then scroll over to the crafting table option and create it. Wa-lah, achievement unlocked!

-Cow Tipper (15G)-
Description: Harvest some leather
Strategy: Kill a cow. The cows are just randomly exploring the land. Run over to them and beat them to death and take the leather that they drop to unlock this achievement.

-Delicious Fish (15G)-
Description: Catch and cook a fish!
Strategy: To get this achievement, you first need a fishing pole. You can’t craft a fishing pole unless you are playing on a difficulty setting higher than “Peaceful” by the way, because you have to obtain the string by killing spiders. Spiders appear at all times of the day. At night, they will attack you without hesitation, but in the day, they will only attack when attacked first.

Killing spiders will sometimes make them drop string. You need two string and sticks to create a fishing rod. Once you have the necessary materials, craft the fishing rod. Then it’s just a matter of finding a large body of water, using the fishing rod, and catching a fish!

With a fish caught, take it back to your house. Craft a furnace if you haven’t already and cook the fish in the furnace in order to unlock the achievement.

-Dispense With This (20G)-
Description: Construct a Dispenser
Strategy: The Dispenser is a little complicated to build. You need the materials to build a furnace, plus you need a red stone, and you need to craft a bow. You need sticks and string from spiders in order to craft a bow. Red stone can be found very deep. Mine away.

When you finally have allocated all the necessary materials, craft this device to satisfy the achievements.

-Getting an Upgrade (15G)-
Description: Construct a better pickaxe
Strategy: You need to craft a pickaxe out of stone, iron, gold, or diamond.

-Getting Wood (10G)-
Description: Punch a tree until the block of wood pops out
Strategy: Find a tree. Punch it until it breaks and then collect the wood.

-Hot Topic (15G)-
Description: Construct a furnace out of eight cobblestone blocks
Strategy: I covered how to create a furnace in the “Acquire Hardware” achievement strategy earlier. Refer to that for more information.

-Into the Nether (40G)-
Description: Construct a Nether Portal
Strategy: This may get hard. You need Obsidian stone. This can only be mined using a diamond pickaxe. Diamonds are very, very rare, so expect to mine all over the place until you finally find diamond ore. Do NOT try to mine the diamond ore with anything less than an iron pickaxe, otherwise you will not successfully mine the ore.

When you have enough diamond ore, craft a diamond pickaxe. Then continue digging around until you come across Obsidian stones. They are a dark purple color in appearance. You can actually create Obsidian stones yourself, in a way, by forcing water and lava to touch, which will result in one of these stones.

Harvest enough of these stones so that you have at least 10 or 14. You now have to create a doorway that is four blocks wide and five blocks high. You can choose to use corner pieces or not, but if you don’t, substitute with another kind of block.

Next you will need flint and steel. Steel is code for iron, and flint can be found by mining the sides of mountains, and they will randomly appear. You probably will have a ton of it at this point, especially if you have been looking for Obsidian stones. Create the flint & steel, and then use it on the Obsidian doorway to create the portal.

-Leader of the Pack (30G)-
Description: Befriend five wolves
Strategy: Despite the weird wording for this achievement, you do not have to befriend five wolves at the same time. This counts across all of the games you play, whether you’re in a new world that you’ve made, playing in a friend’s world online, or whatever.

But how do you go about befriending wolves anyway? Wolves are normally non-hostile creatures until provoked. To make them love you, you need to give them a bunch of bones. Bones are collected by killing the skeleton men that roam around the landscape at night (make sure you are playing on a difficulty higher than “Peaceful” or wolves will not even spawn). Give them to the wolves using LT.

When hearts start appearing above the heads of the wolves, that means you have tamed and befriended them. They will listen to your orders to sit or follow you. If they follow you, they will help you in fighting off the baddies.

-MOAR Tools (15G)-
Description: Construct one type of each tool (one pickaxe, one spade, one axe, and one hoe)
Strategy: Just gather a bunch of wood and then build all the different types of tools at a crafting table for this one.

-Monster Hunter (20G)-
Description: Attack and destroy a monster
Strategy: Kill a monster. There is a variety of monsters, and they mostly come out at night (mostly). You can kill them with pretty much anything, but it’s easier if you kill them with a bow or with a sword of some sort.

-On A Rail (40G)-
Description: Travel by minecart to a point at least 500m in a single direction from where you started
Strategy: It may not be the most difficult achievement on the list, but it is the most time-consuming. You need a bunch of iron, wood, and other blocks in order to create the structure necessarily to unlock this achievement.

500m means 500 blocks. You have to build a giant track that takes up 500 blocks worth of rails. This means you will need an absurd amount of iron to create the rail, plus even more iron in order to create a suitable cart. The easiest way to do this is to just pick a direction and start building the tracks in that direction.

-Taking Inventory (10G)-
Description: Open your inventory
Strategy: Press “Y”. You’re welcome.

-The Lie (40G)-
Description: Bake a cake using wheat, sugar, milk and eggs!
Strategy: This achievement is also very time-consuming, though it will take much less time than “On A Rail”. The first thing you should collect is the wheat. Look at the achievement “Bake Bread” for more information on how to plant and harvest wheat.

You need at least three of the wheat crop. I recommend storing it in a chest in your house. Then move on to the next ingredient. Sugar. To get sugar, you need to harvest sugar cane. Sugar cane looks like tall green stalks. They are found mostly on distant islands from the initial spawn point, near water, on the beach. Walk along the beach lines until you find some. Then whack it down. Take the sugar cane to a crafting table to convert it into actual sugar. You need two sugars. Dump them in the chest at your house.

To collect milk, you will first need a bucket. And for this achievement, you will need three buckets. To create buckets, you need iron ore. Find iron more, and then smelt it into iron ingot. Use a crafting table to convert that iron into a bucket. Repeat this process until you have three buckets. Then go outside and look for a cow. When you find a cow, press LT with the buckets equipped to milk the cow. You can milk the same cow as much as you want. Do this until the buckets are full of milk and dump them off in the chest back at your house.

Getting an egg will be the easiest part of this achievement. Find a chicken and just follow it around until it lays an egg. According to the tips that show up during the loading screen and the saving screen, the chickens lay eggs every five to 10 minutes. It’s likely you will just stumble upon eggs lying on the ground anyway. When you have an egg, retrieve all the ingredients from your chest (I recommended this because you don’t lose items in your chest when you die) and then go to a crafting table to make the cake!

Huge success!

-Time to Farm! (10G)-
Description: Use planks and sticks to make a hoe
Strategy: Just do exactly as the description says.

-Time to Mine! (10G)-
Description: use planks and sticks to make a pickaxe
Strategy: Yep.

-Time to Strike! (10G)-
Description: Use planks and sticks to make a sword.
Strategy: Hi-yah!

-When Pigs Fly (40G)-
Description: Use a saddle to ride a pig, then have the pig get hurt from fall damage while riding it.
Strategy: Getting this achievement without visiting the “888″ seed is near impossible in the Xbox 360 version. You can’t craft saddles yet, but in the PC version of the game, they appear in chests a lot of the time found in caverns.

In the Xbox 360 version of the game, I personally have yet to even find a chest without searching for the 888 seed. And I’ve done a ton of mining and exploring, and have put dozens of hours into this game already.

At the start menu of the game, type in “888″ seed. When you spawn, turn around and walk straight up the mountainside. You will find a treasure chest. Loot the chest to find the saddle. Then find a pig. Place the saddle on the pig and then ride the pig.

The bad part about this achievement is that you cannot actually control the pig. You just have to hope that it will fall off an edge and get hurt by the fall. You can manipulate the terrain with tools to try to nudge the pig in the right direction.
