In CSI: Miami Heat Wave, you are tasked with solving crimes, just like in the hit TV show. Along the way, Horatio Caine himself will be guiding you in order for you to become the best forensics expert in the Miami area. With this game, you will be tasked to solve murder cases, gathering and processing evidences as you discover them, which would ultimately lead you to your suspects and, eventually, to the real killer.
Gameplay
CSI: Miami Heat Wave works just like any forensic investigation. Once a case is handed over to you, you will be looking over the crime scene and look for evidence. Once the evidence has been processed, you can then find suspects and make them confess. Once you’ve found enough evidence and have asked the right questions, then you will eventually find your killer.
Investigating Crime Scenes
Crime scenes are comprised of tiles that you will have to look at one by one in order to find evidence. From time to time, you will be able to find a trace that will eventually lead you to the evidence. Of course, you can also click on the tiles randomly, but the trace is the most surefire way to find what you need. You have to balance this out with your available energy. Still, you can also use special items that will allow you to look for evidence without using energy. You are limited to using 10 gadgets per day, so use them wisely so that you will be able to find all the evidence in the area.
Processing Evidence
Processing evidence requires players to have the appropriate number of resources. These can be in the form of cash, bio-agents, or some other item. Most items can be manufactured in the lab, though each batch takes a specific amount of time to produce. However, if you only require a small number of resources but do not want to wait, then you can opt to adjust the processing time so that a batch can be completed and collected. A good piece of advice, though, is to set the production time to a longer time frame, and thus a bigger production batch, if you would not be playing the game for an extended period of time, as items cannot be manufactured again if you have not yet collected the current batch.
Questioning Suspects
Just like in the series, CSI: Miami Heat Wave requires players to interrogate suspects. Asking questions will require energy to perform, so make sure that you ask the right questions that will eventually lead to the suspects’ confession. The better the evidence you have and the more leading your questions are, the better the chances that you will get a confession out of the guilty party quicker.
Extra Missions
Extra missions are like sidequests that you can do outside of the current case. These involve finding items in the crime scene, and this is the only way that you can earn badges which will in turn allow you to unlock new cases.
Strategy
As with any investigation, success in CSI: Miami Heat Wave requires having a keen eye when looking for evidence, as well as being able to ask the right questions. Proper management of energy and resources is also necessary in order to be able to solve cases quicker. Do not forget to adjust production time of resources accordingly so that you will not be short on them when the time comes. Of course, do not forget also to collected resources once they are ready. Mind these little reminders and you are well on your way towards being a great forensic investigator just like the team of CSI: Miami.
