Combo Crew is a game that will have you swiping at the screen relentlessly as baddies pop up from everywhere. Set in a world where players can control some of the best fighters in the world, they must escape certain death by climbing Boss Tower and defeating the mysterious man behind the situation. Luckily, you are armed with damaging combos – as well as a few other surprises – as you make your way to the top.
Gameplay
Players can select between one of four characters, each with unique fighting styles. Using these characters, they must advance through each stage using their fighting prowess, and the challenges increase as they become stronger and more numerous with each subsequent stage. Players also have the ability to improve their characters by learning new combos and swapping them with each other as well as buying boosters and perks that can definitely help them get throughout the game.
Controls
Controls within the game are relatively simple. Players can swipe at enemies using one finger for basic attacks, while swiping with two fingers will unleash combo attacks, with each swipe direction allowing for different types of attacks. On the defensive end, players can tap on the screen if they are being attacked, as this would allow them to block incoming attacks. Moreover, swiping and holding the screen will allow the player to perform guard breaks so that they can defeat the defense of the opponents.
Super Meter
Attacking and performing different types of combos will slowly fill up the Super Meter. Once filled up, players can press the button that appears on the screen, and this will allow the players to attack multiple enemies at the same time and deal a lot of damage. This is great for large numbers of enemies as well as bosses. However, getting attacked will also deplete your Super Meter, and you always start a level with an empty meter, so it is recommended that you use your meter especially towards the end of the stage.
Missions
There are two game modes within Combo Crews, specifically the King of the Tower Mode and Combo Crew Mode. King of the Tower Mode basically allows you to progress from one level to another, with each subsequent mission unlocking once you have reached a certain point quota, which can be done by getting multiple attack chains going. King of the Tower also allows gamepads to be acquired once they are given the highest rating in a stage. These gamepads can be used to unlock additional content such as new characters.
On the other hand, Combo Crew Mode is essentially a Survival Mode where players must defeat numerous waves of enemies as well as try to reach certain achievements. An interesting point to note is that the player’s health bar carries over to the next stage, and this can be refilled by calling rescue from friends. Players can rescue friends by also playing the game, and the points acquired will be used to fill up your health gauge.
It is important to play through both modes as each will be able to unlock different moves for each character. It is also essential to note that only the combos of the character that you are currently playing will have his or her respective movesets unlocked as you play along.
Store
The store is where players can purchase items that can provide players with additional benefits that will make them more formidable in a fight. Coins which are earned while playing the game are used to purchase items, which includes boosters that are essentially consumables that can be brought along into the game in a limited capacity, as well as perks that provide permanent buffs to your characters.
