It is time to get wild in the Wild West with The Lone Ranger, the video game tie-in to the blockbuster hit starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. As a Ranger, players must bring order in the town of Colby, Texas by beating outlaws in duels and shootouts, as well as helping other people that you meet along the way. The game allows you to interact with different characters both friendly and hostile, and having a quick trigger finger as well as a helping hand will definitely work to your advantage in this very interesting title.
Gameplay
The Lone Ranger is an RPG style game where players must perform tasks that can be both required to push the story forward, or optional for the purpose of earning cash and experience points, with the added benefit of earning allies. There are also options for players to participate in shoot outs and duels, which would require good hand eye coordination as well as lightning quick reflexes. Items can be used, often as part of missions, but also to bolster your abilities in dueling, as some items can increase both offensive and defensive capabilities.
Currency
Cash and silver nuggets are the two currencies in The Lone Ranger. Cash can be earned by completing missions and doing jobs, and can also be earned by winning duels. There are also shiny objects located all over town that can earn players minute amounts of currency, as well as experience points. Cash is required in order to purchase and acquire items that are either required in quests, or can help improve dueling stats.
Silver nuggets, on the other hand, can be used to refill energy, health, and ammo. Silver nuggets are more difficult to come by, and are usually acquired via in-app purchases.
Leveling Up
Doing jobs and winning duels are the two main ways that players can earn experience points and level up. Leveling up will unlock items to be purchased in the store, and it will also completely refill your health, ammo, and energy stores. In addition, leveling up will reward you with additional resources, most important among these are skill points which you can allocate to either health, energy, or ammo so that they will have a higher capacity.
Jobs
Jobs are either essential in pushing the story forward, or as a way for players to acquire allies and other resources. Jobs will usually require energy as well as items or allies that can either be bought or acquired as rewards from other tasks. Some tasks can only be performed once, while others can be repeated several times, earning mastery as well as better rewards. Jobs will mostly return cash and experience as rewards, although sometimes players will also be rewarded with items as well as allies.
Energy
Energy is a very important resource within the game, as it is required to perform tasks. Energy regenerates over time, and can also be refilled using silver. Different jobs cost different amounts of energy, so players must prioritize as to which jobs they would like to finish first.
Ammo
Ammo is a type of resource that would allow players to participate in duels and shootouts. Like energy, ammo also regenerates over time and can also be refilled using silver.
Allies
Allies are friends that are required when performing certain types of missions. Allies start off as hired guns which are added to your “posse” whenever you help them out. Hired guns can only be asked for help once every five minutes, and players would have to pay them with cash if they want to speed things up. Hired guns will become allies, which means that they would help you out without requiring payment anymore, once they have agreed to your invitation. Allies can either be real Facebook friends or computer generated ones.
Duels
Duels and shootouts are an integral part of the game, as some of these are parts of quests that must be completed in order to move forward. Duels can also be started by clicking on the Wanted list, or in outlaws sometimes located in town. Both duels and shootouts will require tapping on designated spots, such as when red targets come up, in the case of duels, or when outlaws appear in the background during shootouts.
In duels, it is important to choose battles well, as some opponents’ reaction times are faster than others. They might also have better offensive and defensive stats than the player, which is actually immaterial if they do not get a shot in. However, it might be possible for stronger enemies to gain one shot skills especially if you are not prepared defensively. Thus, players can purchase items in the store so that they would be able to improve their stats for both offensive and defensive purposes. Health is also important during duels as players cannot participate in them without at least one unit of health. Also, completely depleting an enemy’s health during duels will earn them higher rewards in the form of a strikedown bonus.
