Out There Walkthrough [Guide]

As an astronaut stuck outside of your solar system, you must find your way back home by any means necessary. At your disposal are resources and equipment that will allow you to mine items, discover alien life, and even learn new languages. The question remains – will you be able to get back to Earth? If not, then how long can you last Out There? Read through this startup walkthrough so that you will have a better chance of seeing your home planet once more.

Gameplay
Out There is a rogue-like space exploration simulation game where in players would be able to navigate the galaxy using their ship. In order to do this for a prolonged period of time, players must be able to properly manage their resources so that they would be able to have the necessary items for operations such as travel, probing, landing, drilling, and others. Equipment must also be crafted and maintained for the very same purpose.

Random events as well as decisions made by the player will cause either positive or negative effects to your ship, such as having your engine break down or refilling your oxygen supply. Players might also be able to meet aliens that can provide them with perks like new ships to acquire or new technologies to learn.

The game ends once players no longer have any supplies to support travel. With this, the game must be restarted from the beginning with the goal being the same, which is to try and get to the star which would probably give you the chance to return to the planet Earth.

Resources
Players are able to gather different kinds of elements during their travels. Different element types have various uses. For example, Oxygen will replenish your air supply, Hydrogen will replenish your fuel, Iron can repair your hull, and various others. Different elements can also be used to craft equipment together for your ship. Similarly, elements can be scavenged from dismantled equipment.

Resources can be acquired from planets by probing them or drilling. There are also random events where players will be awarded with elements. Having a steady supply of these resources, especially Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Iron, is integral for your prolonged survival as these are used to refill some very important reserves for your ship.

Equipment
Various types of equipment can be built for your ship, and each serve a very special purpose. Some will allow you to probe or drill certain planets, while others will allow you to travel between planets or star systems. Resources must be acquired before you can do crafting, and dismantling them will also provide you with additional elements. Certain events will cause your equipment to be damaged, after which you must spend resources in order to repair them as well. More equipment can be crafted and acquired from planets and aliens that the player would be able to encounter during their travels.

Ships
Your initial ship will provide you with the ability to travel, although this will require you to spend resources such as fuel and air supply. Sometimes, your hull might get damaged as well. Ships also have slots where in you can store any resources or equipment, although players must manage these properly as storage slots are limited. Eventually, players will be able to gain access to bigger ships that would require less resources and more storage space. These would be accessible latter as players travel to other star systems and planets.

Traveling
Players have the option to travel between star systems as well as planets within that particular star system. This will require certain resources to be spent, and sometimes there will also be a danger for players to lose or gain resources or have their hull damaged randomly. Players must weigh in these factors, especially as players would be able to see information about the planets that they are approaching. Players should also make sure that they have adequate fuel and air supply to travel, as getting stuck during travel with no resources left will end the game.

Planets
Once players have orbited a planet or sun, they have the option to perform different actions such as sending a probe or landing. Once on the surface, they will also have options such as exploring, drilling, or taking off. Of course, it is also very important to have the necessary equipment to do these procedures as different planets have different requirements. Performing actions, such as drilling, will also require resources like fuel to be spent, as well as having their own risks and rewards.

Aliens
Along the way, players will also be able to encounter alien life. These organisms would sometimes try and talk to the player in an intelligible language, although players would be able to get brief translations here and there. It is recommended that players try and take note of these translations as players would have the option to answer aliens’ inquiries. These responses would either hurt or benefit the player resource wise, so it would be good to be able to get the best answer given whatever information you may have acquired during your experiences.

Others
There will also be random events where in players will have to make decisions with corresponding consequences. The results of your decisions are pretty much randomly generated, but oftentimes the boldest answers are the most beneficial. This, however, is not a foolproof strategy so players must always take caution whenever these situations occur.

Along the way, as players encounter more aliens and travel to more planets, they will be able to do more such as travel through wormholes and even destroy other planets. Just keep playing the game and learn from the experience gained each time you fail. It is very important to take note of every piece of information that you have acquired during each playthrough, especially with regards to languages and translations, as these would help you travel and last longer out there until you are able to reach your intended destination and find your way back home.
