1. Introduction
===============================================================================
There are 41 achievements to unlock in Destiny for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, amounting to 1,000 gamerscore total.
Unlocking all of the achievements in Destiny is going to take friends. The game is described as a shared-world shooter, and much of it is a very social experience. If you don’t have any friends that are playing Destiny on Xbox One, the GameFAQs forums are a great place to look for people that are looking to join up and play together.
Even though this guide was written using the Xbox One version of Destiny, the contents herein will still apply to the Xbox 360 version of the game. Furthermore, this guide also applies to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Destiny as well. The difference is that those versions will have trophies instead of achievements that are either Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. There are 42 trophies in Destiny on PlayStation platforms as opposed to the 41 achievements on Xbox platforms as the Platinum trophy is an extra reward given to players that manage to unlock all of the other trophies that are in the game.
To jump to a specific achievement, use the ctrl+f function or use the links in the Table of Contents.
There have been many people, myself included, that have encountered problems unlocking some of the achievements in Destiny. If you are sure that you have completed the requirements for an achievement and have yet to unlock it, do not worry. The next time that you boot up the game, the achievement will probably pop as soon as you select your character.

A Friend Indeed (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Resurrect 5 fallen players
Strategy: This achievement can be won in any co-op mission as well as in Skirmish matches on The Crucible.
It is in these types of missions and matches that allied players will turn into orbs when they have been defeated. Simply go over to their orb and hold in the X button to revive them.

A New Steed (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Obtain and equip a new personal vehicle
Strategy: This is a story-based achievement. Simply play through the story missions until you reach the mission called “The Warmind”, which takes place in Old Russia on Earth. After completing one of the first objectives in the mission, you will unlock the Sparrow personal vehicle.
To equip the personal vehicle, pull out your Ghost. On Xbox One, this is accomplished by pressing the View Button. At that point, hold in the X button until the Sparrow has been summoned. Keep in mind that there is certain terrain in which you will not be able to spawn your Sparrow, but the game will let you know if you are currently in an area that restricts you from hopping on the Sparrow.

Ask Questions Later (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Earn a first strike kill in PvP
Strategy: You can get this achievement in any of the PvP match types. I find that the easiest two to get this achievement are Rumble or Skirmish.
The reason for this is that in Rumble, you will usually spawn right by one of the other six players in the game since the maps are very small. If you rush to your opponent and are skilled enough to defeat them, then this one is fairly easy to obtain.
Skirmish is another easy way to get this achievement, especially if you are actively cooperating with the other two people on your team. If you are in communication with them and they are in your fireteam, you can simply ask them not to kill any of the opponents. They can still help you dwindle their health down, but they would need to let you swoop in and get the kill. As long as you kill the first person on the enemy team and no one on your team gets killed, then the achievement will pop.

Bane of the Dead (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill 25 Hive with precision shots in 1 mission without dying
Strategy: Okay, since this is the first achievement of four that all have similar descriptions, I am going to use this opportunity to go into a bit more detail about what this type of achievement entails exactly, and this information will apply to the next three achievements that are listed, which are Bane of the Emperor, Bane of the Kell, and Bane of the Machines.
First of all, let me explain what the game means by a “precision shot”. Each enemy in the game has a weak point that can be exploited. For the vast majority of the enemies in the game, with only a few exceptions, that weak point is going to be their head. Seems crazy I know, but most creatures are simply unable to function without a head.
You will know when you are landing what is called a “precision shot” when the damage numbers are yellow instead of white, the latter of which denotes when you are dealing normal type damage to enemies.
So let’s take this specific achievement, Bane of the Dead, for example. The achievement description states that you are to kill 25 Hive with precision shots in 1 mission without dying.
What this means is that you need to kill 25 Hive with headshots in any type of mission in the game (this includes Patrols, Strikes, Story missions, etc.) without dying. If you die, then the count will restart at 0, so you could technically die in the mission and still get the achievement if you want to start over.
The weapons that I recommend to use for precision shots are obviously ones that have scopes. Scout Rifles or Sniper Rifles are both very good weapons to use for this, though you can technically get a precision shot with pretty much any other weapon in the game. However, Scout Rifles and Sniper Rifles are the weapons that make this achievement easier.
It’s best to go for this achievement in an area where you are higher leveled than the enemies. The reason for this is that sometimes when you are lining up headshots, the enemies may crowd and somewhat overwhelm you. If you are much higher level than them and have good gear and weapons, then this won’t matter. So try to farm these achievements in areas where you are much higher level than the enemies to make it as easy as possible.
The Hive enemies are mostly found on the Moon. You will find them other places, but doing Moon missions, particularly the Moon Strike Mission called The Summoning Pits, will guarantee you a massive amount of Hive enemies for you to shoot in the head.

Bane of the Emperor (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill 25 Cabal with precision shots in 1 mission without dying
Strategy: For some more in-depth information on what this achievement entails exactly, please refer to the previous achievement called “Bane of the Dead”. Otherwise, all you need to know is where to find Cabal. Cabal are the most common enemy you will run into on Mars, so doing Mars related missions and Strike Missions that are on Mars, such as Cerberus Vae III, will give you the opportunity to kill a ton of Cabal-type enemies.

Bane of the Kell (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill 25 Fallen with precision shots in 1 mission without dying
Strategy: Again, refer to Bane of the Dead for more in-depth information. Otherwise, all you need to know for this achievement is where to find Fallen. Fallen can be found everywhere, but they are most prevalent on Earth. That being said, the Earth Strike Mission, which is called The Devils’ Lair, also has a lot of Hive enemies mixed in with the Fallen, so other Earth-related missions are probably better to farm for this achievement on.

Bane of the Machines (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill 25 Vex with precision shots in 1 mission without dying
Strategy: Now this is the part where I would usually redirect you to Bane of the Dead. And by all means, check it out. However, you can’t simply shoot the robotic Vex race of aliens in the head and expect to be successful; as you probably already know, shooting them in the head doesn’t exactly stop them from coming after you!
Instead the Vex weak point is its gut. Its gut glows with a white energy so you know exactly where to shoot it. Otherwise the same concepts apply when going for this achievement as they did the previous three. Use Sniper Rifles or Scout Rifles to be most effective.

Blink of an Eye (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill 5 enemies in 3 seconds
Strategy: I am sure you’re going to get this achievement by yourself long before you even read this guide, but for those that are, somehow, struggling with this, I will provide a couple of different strategies in which you can get this achievement.
One way is to throw a grenade into a cluster of enemies. Numerous times throughout the story missions and the Strike missions, you will come across mobs of enemies all grouped together. These provide fantastic opportunities for you to throw a grenade into the middle of them and wipe them all out simultaneously. Furthermore, a well-placed rocket shot can do the same thing. Finally, your Super Charge ability will most likely be able to do this as well, so yeah…there are a ton of ways to accomplish this one, and I actually got this achievement doing the tutorial mission, so it is indeed very easy, despite the description making it sound challenging.

Change of Heart (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Reverse a decision you made in an upgrade grid
Strategy: As you level up your class, you will come to find out that sometimes new upgrades meaning getting rid of an old one. A good example of this is how the classes each have a few grenades at their disposal. Once you unlock the second grenade and equip it, the game will un-equip the initial grenade that you had.
Of course, you can switch back and forth between the grenade types if you’d like, and that is what this achievement requires. To reach the upgrade grid, press the Menu Button. Then hover the cursor over the class tile in the upper left hand corner of the screen, on the screen that shows your Guardian and all of your weapons and armor.
Tap the Y button to then enter the grid. It is here where you can see all of your upgrades and you can go around equipping and unequipping the different upgrades at will, assuming that they are ones that can be unequipped.

Decryptologist (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Decrypt 25 Engrams
Strategy: As you play through the game modes, both in co-op missions and in The Crucible, you will be rewarded with plenty of loot. Loot that looks a bit blurred out is known as an Engram. These Engrams need to be deciphered by the Cryptarch at the Tower in order for you to see and collect the loot that you won.
The Cryptarch is one of the first vendors that you will encounter on the Tower if you have just arrived from orbit. If you have anything in your inventory that is an Engram that needs decrypting, a green objective marker with an exclamation mark will lead you directly to the Cryptarch. Speak to him and then use the cursor to select the Engram that you want to be deciphered. At that point, you can collect the true loot.
For this achievement, you need to do this 25 times. You will definitely receive 25 Engrams just from natural play, so don’t worry about farming this particular achievement. Just make a visit to the Tower every so often to decrypt your new gear.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill a champion of the Dark
Strategy: All this means is kill a boss. You will kill a boss when you finish the game’s tutorial level, as it concludes with a boss battle. Defeat him and the achievement is yours. Ta-da.

Epic Raider (45G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Complete a Raid on hard difficulty
Strategy: Okay, this achievement is going to be extremely difficult to unlock. The reason for that is as of the time of this writing, there is only one Raid in Destiny. It is a level 26 Raid called the Vault of Glass, and it is notoriously difficult and time-consuming.
I am sure the difficulty in the Raid will be lowered in the future, or new, easier Raids will be added to the game as well. Regardless, this achievement still asks you to complete the Raid on at least hard difficulty. To change the difficulty of a Raid or any co-op mission, you have the choice to do so while hovering over its icon (the Vault of Glass Raid is on Venus).
Raids can be done with up to six people in your fireteam, unlock the usual co-op missions that only allow you to have three people on your team. Good luck, because you’re definitely going to need it.

Excessive Force (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Register 25 kills in PvP with heavy weapons
Strategy: At certain points during multiplayer matches, the announcer will say “Heavy ammo available”. Your HUD will then include a purple icon that shows you where the heavy ammo is located. Rush to it because the heavy ammo can only be looted once from that location and then it will disappear until it respawns again later in the match.
Hold X when you get to a heavy ammo crate to collect the ammo. Your heavy weapon will automatically be loaded with it. However, if you collect heavy ammo on the ground (heavy ammo is highlighted in purple on the ground), then you will have to manually load your weapon before you have access to it.
Heavy weapons themselves are not obtained until you complete the story mission called “The Last Array” in Old Russia on Earth. After completing that mission you can return to the Tower to obtain the right to use heavy weapons.
Assuming you have heavy weapons, to equip them you simply hold in the Y button. Heavy weapons can either be machineguns or rocket launchers. Kills with either will count towards this achievement.

Finders Keepers (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Assist in capturing 50 capture points in Control
Strategy: In Control, the main objective is to go to the points A, B, or C, and then “capture” those points. That is accomplished by standing within the radius around the flag until that letter is filled in with the color blue, meaning that your team has control of that flag. No matter what faction you are on in multiplayer, you ALWAYS want the flag to be blue.
If you reach a flag and it is not neutral (grey flags denote neutral ones), then you first have to neutralize it before capturing it. Neutralizing a flag is accomplished in the same manner as capturing one. Simply stand within the radius to neutralize, and then keep standing there until it is blue to capture it.
Control, obviously, is one of the four PvP match types that can be found in The Crucible.

Flawless Raider (65G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Complete a Raid without anyone in your fireteam dying
Strategy: And you thought the other Raid achievement was tough. As of the time of this writing, I don’t think anyone has even unlocked this achievement yet. I have no doubt that easier Raids will be added in the future that will make this achievement not so impossibly tough to get, but as of right now…good luck is really all I have to say.

Flawless Striker (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Complete a Strike without anyong in your fireteam dying
Strategy: Now THIS achievement is much easier to get. Simply complete a Strike mission and don’t let anyone on your fireteam die. The easiest way to do this is to return to an old Strike mission after you have already leveled up a lot. Get to level 20, then return to the Strike Mission on Earth and you should be able to breeze through it very easily.

Fully Weaponized (30G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Fully upgrade a Legendary weapon
Strategy: To see if a weapon is Legendary, you simply have to look at the color of its tile. The color purple indicates that a piece of gear is Legendary status or not.
To obtain a Legendary weapon, you either need to buy one from one of the vendors in the Tower, or just get lucky in loot drops. Once you have one, you need to keep playing with it to earn XP while you have it equipped. There may also be a certain amount of Glimmer (the game’s main currency) or other crafting materials required to upgrade it and unlock new abilities for the weapon, which is all dependent on the weapon itself.

Ghost Hunter (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Discover 50 dead ghosts
Strategy: Dead ghosts are one of the collectibles in the game, the other collectible being gold chests. There’s more than 50 of them in the game. Since I am interested in making an achievement guide and not a collectible guide, I am not going to include the location of the dead ghosts here. However, you can check out these videos:

Description: Kill 100 Hunters in PvP
Strategy: Much like the previous achievement, you have to kill 100 enemies in The Crucible, except this time you need to worry about killing Hunters. I find that the Hunter and Warlock classes are the most used classes in the game, so this shouldn’t take all that long.

Description: Fully upgrade a Hunter Subclass
Strategy: Once you hit level 20, you can still keep upgrading the two subclasses attached to each class in the game. You can check the progress to your next ability unlock by looking at the green bar that is on the subclass icon in the pause menu.
At level 15, you will unlock the second subclass for your character. To get this achievement in the fastest way possible, you should stick with your first subclass until you’ve maxed it out. You only earn XP for the subclass that you currently have equipped.

Description: Inspect another player
Strategy: This is one of thoese extremely easy achievements that are just there to make sure you try out everything in the game. In case you didn’t know, you can check out the Guardian of another player in your fireteam or the Guardian of people on your Friend List, assuming that they are currently online playing Destiny when you are.
Anyway to do this, press the Menu Button. Then tap LB to go to the “Roster”. Move the cursor so that it is above the name of whoever you want to inspect. At that juncture, press the Y button to take a look at their gear as well as their Guardian.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Attain a Grimoire score of 777
Strategy: As you play the game, you’ve probably seen the “Grimoire” info pop up on the bottom of the screen from time to time. What these are, are challenges that can be found on Bungie.net that you can complete to earn points for Bungie.net.
This achievement will unlock just by naturally playing the game. Most people I know have gotten it before even finishing up the story missions, so it is nothing to stress over. You don’t have to get a score of exactly 777 either, just 777 or higher and the achievement will pop.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Earn the maximum weekly Crucible score
Strategy: Every week, you can only earn up to 100 Crucible Marks. The Crucible Marks are used as currency for some of the vendors in the game that you can talk to in order to buy really powerful gear from. You earn 3 Crucible marks by winning a match and 2 by completing one to the end, even if you don’t win. Control and Clash matches take the longest, so if you are looking to play quicker matches, try Skirmish and Rumble.

Packing Heat (30G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Fully upgrade an Exotic weapon
Strategy: Before you can bother with fully upgrading an Exotic weapon, you must first obtain one. These are extremely difficult to obtain. The first way to obtain them is by random loot drops, but good luck with that.
The other way is by purchasing them from Xur. Xur is only at the Tower on the weekends, from Friday to Sunday in real world time. Xur only accepts currency in the form of Strange Coins, which are somewhat difficult to obtain as well. To get them, complete the weekly Heroic Strike (which will get you three), and otherwise just play the game and hope that you get one in the form of loot drops or rewards at the end of missions.
Once you have 23 Strange Coins, you are able to purchase both Exotic weapons and Exotic armor from Xur. For this specific achievement, you will want to purchase an Exotic weapon, obviously.
Once you have an Exotic weapon, you need to use it in order to gain XP for it so that you can level it up and equip new attributes to it. You will be made aware when you have upgrades available, so don’t worry about constantly keeping an eye on it. Most of the time you will also need some crafting materials in order to complete the upgrade, so check to make sure what materials are needed to upgrade whatever Exotic weapon you snag so that you can prepare for it.
A weapon is fully upgraded when all attributes for it have been purchased, so when your Exotic weapon has all of its attributes purchased and the green bar on its icon is completely full, this achievement will unlock.

Public Defender (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Earn the highest tier of completion in 10 public events
Strategy: Public events will pop up every now and again when you’re just doing other things in the game. To start them, go to their location and simply join the other players that are completing them.
Public events are usually boss battles, but they take other forms as well. They have a variety of objectives and most of the time they also use time limits as well.
Completing them in a timely manner will get you a Gold tier rating. The rating you receive for completing the public event will pop up at the top of the screen once the public event has been completed.
You don’t actually need to complete 10 different public events for this achievement. In fact, you can just do the same one over and over again. The public events will pop up every half an hour or so if you just stick around in the area that they are supposed to pop. Public events can be found on every world in the game.

Strategy: The first Raid in the game is a level 26 Raid called the Vault of Glass that is on Venus. You won’t even unlock this Raid to see until you are level 22, and at that point, it may still tell you that it is “Impossible” to complete the Raid due to a lack of powerful enough gear. To complete the Raid, you’re definitely going to need a full fireteam of six that includes some very skilled players at the game or else you don’t stand a chance in hell.

When you get there, you can be walked through the process of creating a clan, and then once it has been created, others will need to search for your clan, ask to join, and then you will have to accept their application.
Alternatively, you can find a clan to join and then team up with other players from that same clan. You will know when you have successfully created or joined a clan because under your name you will see your clan tag.
To have a full fireteam in a Raid, you need six people playing the game. You also need them all to be a part of your clan, or you all need to be in the same clan to do this.

Relic Hunter (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Assist in capturing 20 capture points in Salvage
Strategy: This achievement is a little strange because Salvage was an event in The Crucible that only lasted a few days. I assume that they are going to bring it back, either in the form of another event or hopefully as its own dedicated game mode (Salvage is awesome), but in the meantime, you can at least learn what you need to do in order to get the achievement!
In Salvage, the goal is to reach relics and then capture the relics. Relics are captured in the same manner that flags are captured in Control. Simply stand within the radius.
Once you’ve deployed your Ghost to start capturing the relic, you have to defend the position from the opposing team. Your opponents can disrupt the process by getting to your Ghost and holding the X button to stop you from collecting the relic.
Salvage is a 3v3 game type, so a lot of the same aspects of Skirmish apply to it as well, the most important of which is that you are able to revive members of your team when playing Skirmish.

Rising Vanguard (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Complete a Strike
Strategy: The first Strike that you can complete unlocks once you hit level 8. There are five Strikes in the game, and eventually you even unlock a playlist of them in more difficult forms. There are also Weekly Heroic Strikes that provide bonus rewards if they are completed.
A Strike is a mission that typically involves mowing through a ton of enemies and then culminates in one or two really intense and challenging boss battles. You can go back to Strikes when you’re a higher level later if one is giving you trouble.

Strength of the Pack (20G)

Description: Complete a Strike with a full fireteam consisting of only your
clan members
Strategy: For information on how to create a clan in Destiny, please refer to the “Raiding Party” achievement. Once you have a clan together and the other two people in your fireteam (a full fireteam in a Strike means three players) are in the same clan, all you have to do is complete a Strike with them.

Suited for War (30G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Have all armor and weapon slots equipped with Legendary or Exotic
gear
Strategy: If you check out the achievements called “Fully Weaponized” and “Packing Heat”, I’ve already explained how to obtain both Legendary and Exotic gear. Legendary gear is purple and Exotic gear is yellow. You just need each slot on your Guardian to feature either a Legendary or an Exotic to get this achievement, and yes your class mark in the bottom right hand corner needs to be Legendary or Exotic as well.

Triple Play (30G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Kill a Hunter, Titan, and Warlock without dying in a PvP Match
Strategy: This sounds a lot harder than it is. You just need to kill one of each of the classes in any of the four PvP match types without dying yourself.
The easiest way to get this is in Skirmish. This is because most fireteams will consist of one of each class, and since there are only three people allowed in any given fireteam, there is a good chance that you will be paired up with a team that does consist of one Hunter, one Titan, and one Warlock.
If you have your Super Charge, you can rush them with it and try to get them all at once. You can try to pick them off and work together with your teammates if they are willing to help you get the kills and not take them for themselves.
Otherwise don’t stress too much about this achievement. You will probably unlock it just by naturally playing the game.

Use of Weapons (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Dismantle 50 pieces of armor or weapons
Strategy: Whenever you get a piece of armor or a weapon that is stronger than the one you currently have, then you should immediately equip it and then dismantle the old one. This way, you will get this achievement in no time at all due to all of the loot that you will get in the game. To dismantle an item, first make sure that you don’t have it equipped. Then hover the cursor over it and hold the X button until it is dismantled. You will get Glimmer as well as various crafting materials for dismantling gear.

- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Earn the maximum weekly Vanguard score
Strategy: Like The Crucible, there is a maximum amount of Vanguard marks that you can earn in a given week. You can only earn 100 Vanguard marks just like you can only earn 100 Crucible marks.
To get Vanguard marks, you have to do Daily Heroic Story missions, Weekly Heroic Strike missions, or do the Strike playlists. Public Events can also get you Vanguard marks.

Vanguard of Honor (20G)
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Description: Attain Vanguard Rank 3
Strategy: Vanguard reputation is what you need in order to increase your Vanguard rank. There are many ways to get Vanguard reputation. You can get it by completing Strikes, doing Patrol missions, doing bounties, and more.
However, if you have a bond, mark, or cloak from one of the three factions at the Tower equipped, you will only work towards leveling up your rank with them and your ability to access their store. Have a different bond, mark, or cloak equipped so that you can level up both your Vanguard and Crucible rank, though there is no achievement attached to getting a high Crucible ranking.
