4J studios were on a break, but now they are back and have released a bunch of updates for all editions including Minecraft PS3, PS4 and PS Vita editions.
They have also released the title update for Xbox 360 and the content update for Xbox One editions. Players who were used to playing as the male miner Steve for a very long time can finally enjoy some change. After all, being the same character throughout many years is kind of annoying, which is why the developers have decided to bring in a female character free of cost. The developers say that this is not just a new skin but it allows them to connect with the diverse range of players who enjoy playing Minecraft on their favorite consoles. That it represents the player base much better, is what they would like to convey.
Patch 1.16 Brings Alex
Alex is the new female miner and she has thinner arms when compared to Steve. She looks different with blonde hair, has a slim body and wears different clothes. But, the developing team confirmed Alex is no different from Steve as she will be capable of doing all the tasks that her counterpart has been doing for years now.
There are eight different skins that you could pick for her and Steve has also received some free new skins to choose from. The change log is quite similar on all platforms including Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PS Vita editions. The handheld console has received some love right after the team launched new updates for it, including boats and the ability to fish in a river.
Additional Changes and the Simpsons Skin
The new patch for Minecraft PS3 and PS4 editions also adds an all new music track which will now play whenever you open the creative mode. The front end menu music has also been modified to be peppy, which is now the same as the Java version of the game.
The Simpsons skin pack which was launched for Xbox 360 and Xbox One earlier, has now found its way to the Playstation consoles. You can get over a dozen character skins to choose from, including the crowd favorite Homer. An issue with the Steam Punk texture pack has been fixed with the rollout and there’s also an additional fix that will allow you to easily place shrubs in flower pots. The official change log has been posted in the Minecraft forum for more information.
