Minecraft is getting bigger and better, but the ultimate aim is to appeal to a wide range of audience which is why the developers have now officially added a female character.

Most video games, assuming that girl gamers are rare, create a male avatar. If you go through history, you will find that some of the most popular titles had protagonists who were male and there are so many AAA titles which don’t even have a female character in the storyline. When Ubisoft launched Assassin’s Creed Unity without a female avatar, players were furious. They said that it was a gender discrimination to include four different co-op players and making all of them male. But, the company said that they don’t have the necessary resources to create new ones and it was let off without more questions.

Making Minecraft Gamer Friendly

Unlike Assassin’s Creed Unity, Minecraft on Xbox One, PS4 and a whole lot of other platforms including its original PC edition is a game that is designed to appeal to the masses. There are even young children who are just six years old and they love the game. It is not a male centric title where it is all about action, guns and killing but rather a creative world, where anyone could build anything.

Making the game appropriate, for both the girl and guy gamers, is a responsibility that the developers Mojang, 4J studios have finally undertaken, by launching an all new character.

Get ready to welcome Alex, the new female avatar who will be embracing Minecraft on all console editions. It is time to explore the game from a whole new perspective. Even though, the avatar now looks completely different sporting a blonde hair, the actions and the gameplay features remain the same. All the activities that Steve has been performing so far can be carried out by Alex with relative ease and there are over six different costumes to choose from.

The basic version of Alex will look similar to Steve on Minecraft, sporting a green costume with brown pants and blonde hair. Players can also choose between a Tennis player costume, a cool looking tourist costume with a violet top, a boxer with gloves, a girl dressed for a date and a miner who is ready to work hard all day and night.

Minecraft Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 editions received the new female character. The Alex skin pack is completely free to download and own forever. If you haven’t already got it, it is time to download and start exploring some of the interesting maps as an all new character. Everything started when a twelve year old girl from Washington wanted to know why developers never allow her to play as a girl and always as a boy.
