Chapter 12: The Ride
Once the chapter begins and you have full control you’ll be battling a giant spider. You could go so far as to call it a boss fight, and it likely is, but it also isn’t overly hard to win. While we don’t claim to know its weak spots for sure, we had a massive amount of success by targeting the creatures head.
Start off with your Sniper Rifle, but don’t be afraid to pull out your Magnum. In this case it’s a bit easier to aim, but we also used a few random bolts from the Agony Crossbow, and even tossed a few Grenades around. The main objective is, hit this creature with everything you’ve got.
After the battle is over, Castellanos, Kidman and Joseph will find themselves blocked in by rubble, and not long afterwards a group of uglies will attack from elevated positions surround the bus. Go for headshots with your Handgun and once the fight is over head back onto the open road. We also made use of our Sniper Rifle and Magnum here, but as per the usual it’s all up to you and how much ammo you’re willing to spend.
Tip: The beast will release slug like enemies that are more annoying than harmful. Even if these creatures get to you, they aren’t tough to kill, and only require a quick shot from your Shotgun to blow away.
Once the bus starts moving again the beast will attack. There’s nothing new to do here, just simply keep drilling it with the same weapons you used before. Remember to focus on its head, and even maybe the belly for good measure. It really doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you deal enough damage to move on to the next part of the chapter.
A cut scene puts the boss fight to rest, and once it is over you’ll need to push through a maze of abandoned vehicles to find a Hemostatic for Joseph. There are a ton of dangerous enemies between you and your objective, but it isn’t anything new to players at this point.
Make your way forward, using your Handgun to shoot any explosive barrels to set your enemies aflame. Use Grenades for clusters, or hit the area with a Freeze Bolt before finishing them off with a melee kill. After a short trip, climb into the ambulance and pick up the Hemostatic from the back area.
Now for the exciting part – make your way back to Kidman and Joseph. To do this you’ll need to head the only direction you can to find yourself in from of a Humvee and turret. Climb into the back and take control of the turret, using it to quickly waste any foes that dare challenge your dominance. Once you’re satisfied that you’ve spilled enough blood sprint to the bus to trigger the chapter ending cut scene.
