Origin of
scratch cards & how they got online

The origin of scratch cards

It is unclear exactly when
the first scratch cards appeared but in 1974 the American company, Scientific
Games Corporation, led by scientist, John Koza and retail promotions specialist,
Daniel Bower, produced the first computer-generated instant Lottery game.
Thirteen years later in 1987, another American company, Astro-Med Inc, received
the U.S. patent for the instant scratch-off lottery ticket. Scratch cards are
generally sold at lottery kiosks or stands rather than at land-based casinos.

Although the simple scratch
cards require the player to match three (or a varying number) of the same prize
amounts in order to win this amount, more sophisticated scratch cards have
several different ways of winning on one card. Other types of scratch cards
involve symbols or pictures or are adaptations of popular games such as Monopoly
or football.

The relatively low cost of
scratch cards are a major attraction for many people,  coupled with the concept
of an 'instant win' which the term 'scratch cards' continue to conjure up and of
walking away with your cash win on the spot unlike having to wait for a draw
with lotteries. While this is generally the case, there are exceptions to the
rule where claiming your scratch card wins can be quite a long and drawn-out
process. In the US, particularly in Massachusetts and New York, there are many
"instant" tickets which do not pay top prizes "instantly" but over many years,
with no cash option.

Adapting scratch cards for
online use

The Internet has increased
the popularity of scratch cards and made it even more convenient to play them:
there is no more running out to the kiosk to buy a ticket when you can buy them
online at a time convenient to you. Obviously, the element of "scratching' the
surface of the card had to undergo a change online but the notion of the game
remains the same. Instead of scratching the surface of the card, the mouse is
used to select the desired area for scratching.

Making scratch cards
available online has meant that there is much more variety in the type of
scratch cards, with vivid graphics and a wide range of different themes,
according to many aspects such as seasons or hobbies. These games can be played
online without any need to download additional software. If one wants the
feeling of playing scratch cards but without any winnings, there are free online
versions available although one loses the excitement of winning 'real cash'.
Some online casinos offer bright, colorful versions of scratch cards which
remain consistent with the original form of scratch card games, due to their
instant play and instant results.

TreasureOnNet, although a
relatively new company,  has already made a name for itself among online scratch
card websites,  both for its unique system of giving the player sole
responsibility for deciding the sum of their

scratch ticket and their winnings and for the fact that unlike other
online

scratch cards, TreasureOnNet scratch tickets contain all the objects that
you are looking for and every game provides you with the opportunity to win
instant cash. In contrast to other
gaming websites that contain a small amount of winning tickets which means that
the majority of players bet on a ticket which doesn't contain any prize, every
TreasureOnNet scratch card is unique and not part of a series. TreasureOnNet
games are planned in a completely different way so that every game and scratch
off ticket contains all the treasure boxes that a player needs and therefore
there is a chance to win the big prize in every game.
