Just a month has passed from the well-expected Las Vegas Ces, where the most futuristic technology products are exposed to the big public. Ces is the world抯 biggest technology exhibition and every year here it is possible to see the latest news in the technology and electronic field.
The International CES features 2,700 exhibitors spanning 30 product categories from markets including audio, digital content creation and distribution, digital imaging, embedded technology, gaming (digital entertainment), high-performance audio & home theater, video, home networking, in-vehicle technology and wireless. You can really find and see everything in the electronic field.
What emerges clearly in these months is that also technology products are suffering a bit from the economic crisis, but despite this fact also this year news don抰 miss. This is not just the year of the economic crisis, but it is also the year of netbook, home entertainment, of smartphone and touchscreen, the touchable screen that substitutes the traditional physical keyboard.
And it really seems that there are no crisis in the video game and console market. During the holiday season the Nintendo console, Nintendo Wii, sold very well, and always for this holiday it was foreseen the coming out of the new model of Nintendo DSi with many new functionalities as a camera and a music player, on which it is always possible to use the supercard one.
Even the Microsoft抯 Xbox 360 sold around 28 million until the end of 2008, the best year ever for this console. Also the Sony抯 PS3 has registered a huge increase: around 40% increase from one year ago, with around 20 million Playstation 3 sold. In addition PS3 is the only console in the market that has installed also a Blu-ray player. Sony, in fact, didn抰 miss the chance to reaffirm the superiority of its console over the others, especially over its direct competitor, Xbox 360.
Microsoft followed suit, pointing out that Xbox抯 sales are going really great, that the cutting prices policy has worked out very well and so for now an adaptation to the Blu-ray technology is absolutely
out of the question.
But the most played console of all time is always the Sony PS2. As a matter of fact Wii now is considered to be this generation抯 PS2. Even if for the moment nothing has been able to surpass PS2抯 sales in the long period. But Wii already thrashes the sales of all its competitors, PS3 and Xbox 360, and now Nintendo resolved an even more ambitious purpose. And it seems they also have the qualifications to reach it. Also the other Nintendo console, the portable Nintendo Dsi is doing great and it is receiving ample consensus. In both cases the reason behind this huge success is that the two console are addressed, both for their style, format and for the type of video game created for them, to a very wide public that involves young people, both male and female, but also adults and even, why not, seniors.
Back to the Blu-ray, instead, it is still not clear if it will be a nine-days?wonder, but a confirmed data is that Blu-ray抯 sales almost quadruplicated in the last months. Blu-ray is surely a very fashionable technology, but still an elite technology, especially due to its high cost.
