Really sad news for FIFA World Players that the servers for free-to-play FIFA World will be closing in 90 days, on the 14th of July, since EA have decided not to pursue the project any further. In a blog post they stated a lack of momentum as the reason behind the decision.Let's see.
"After a beta of nearly 18 months, an enormous amount of feedback and some great times with our players, we just didn抰 have the momentum to bring the game to a full commercial launch. It抯 a tough decision, but we believe ultimately the right one, that we stop development on the game."
By today you'll no more have the ability to buy FIFA points from FIFA World and you are urged to invest any available points you've as quickly as possible.
This is an interesting move, especially thinking about that various executives at EA happen to be vocal regarding free-to-play, in other words free-to-start, being the way forward for videogames and, like it or hate it, FIFA (especially FUT) could fit that model very well. It can be exactly that the beta has offered it's purpose and thus they have canned it and we'll begin to see the outcomes of the feedback and experience acquired elsewhere later on.
FIFA World isn't the only F2P EA title facing the chop, also set to close on the same date are Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free and Need for Speed World.
"Once again, we thank everyone who participated in the FIFA World Beta. Our team is proud of what we have achieved with this game and we抮e not done looking at new ways to bring new FIFA experiences to players around the world."
One of the FIFA players said that, "I have FIFA 15, and FIFA World. And personally I liked FIFA World a lot more than FIFA 15 because FW gives you the chance to combine FIFA 14 players with FIFA 15. I have approximately 10 million FW coins been playing for the last 3 months. And now I'm ready to enjoy my momentum after building my dream squad from each league."
However, we cannot change the decision, why not enjoy the last 3 months in FIFA World.
