How to use Pokesav

Pokesav is a computer program that was developed by a Japanese programmer and it is used for editing Diamond, Pearl as well as Platinum save files. Pokesav also has another version that is used only for editing Pearl or Diamond save file and also another one that is only used to edit Platinum file. This program allows computer game players to be able to edit game aspects such as Pok?mon, the in game records and inventory. It only takes minutes to be able to create a Pok?mon using Pokesav compared to the hours that are needed in training the Pok?mon.

In order for you to know how to use Pokesav, you will need to know several things. This program can be used in two major ways, that is transferring Pok?mon save file to the computer’s hard disk and using Pokesav to edit it, and the other way is to generate Action Relay codes by using Pokesav and then editing the game. Editing of files that have been save on the computer will be much simpler than using generated Action Relay (AR) codes and this is only if you will have the relevant equipments. However, both of these methods will give out the same results.

When using AR codes you are supposed to first generate AR codes by editing anything that will need to be changed in Pokesav. After the completion of editing from the main window you are supposed to click on the button named “AR DS Code Output”. Then you should proceed to select the boxes that are on the output screen and this depends on what was earlier edited. Then click on the button named “Save File” which will enable Pokesav to export the appropriate Action Relay codes and ensure you have saved them as XML files.

These files should then be imported to the Action Relay code manager and then transferred to the ARDS. The codes should then be opened with either Pokermon Pearl or Diamond and press L+R in order to activate the Action Relay codes. These codes can alternatively be pasted manually in the Code Manager and this can be done through opening of the XML files using a text editor such as the Notepad and then choosing the appropriate code and paste it to the Code Manager. Do not open too many codes simultaneously as this may cause the game to crash. You can also choose to use Flash Cart and here you will need a device that is capable of back up as well as restore saves from the retail DS carts.

The save file should then be transferred using the save back up device from the Pokermon cartridge to the PC. This save file can either be 256 KB or 512 KB. It is important as well to ensure that there is a back up of the save file before you load the program. This will be accomplished by selecting the appropriate file size and then choosing the save file by clicking on the button that indicates “Open” and then edit the save file before you can transfer it back to the game cart. There is also an evolution list of Pokermon that comes in National Pokedex order. These evolution families are named by their basic evolutionary form.

This article touched the basics of the topic. I have 2 more resources related to the above. They are how to use pokesav and evolution list for pokemon. Do consider reading them.
