Patch 2.1.0 will introduce changes to the existing Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls campaign.

Just a couple of days after the Diablo 3 community celebrated the closing of the Auction House, one of the last remnants of the heavily-retooled action-RPG's launch phase, Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Patch 2.1.0 can now be previewed on the game's public test server.

The first half of 2014 has been a pretty exciting time for Diablo fans; with Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls drastically improving the gameplay found in Diablo 3, and this week's shuttering of the game's widely-hated Auction Houses. Now, the Diablo 3 community is being given its first extensive look at the new content being prepared for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, all of which is currently available on the game's Public Test Realm.

Unlike most of the game's post-launch patches, Patch 2.1.0 will actually introduce some pretty significant changes to the existing Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls campaign. For starters, Patch 2.1.0 will add an entirely new tile set to the list of potential environments in which you can do battle while taking part in Adventure Mode, Nephalem Rifts and/or Greater Rifts.

According to a previous update from Blizzard, the Cesspools were originally slated to be a part of the Act V content from Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, but were scrapped at the last minute because they weren't living up to the company's expectations. But, rather than toss them out entirely, Blizzard spent a little extra time getting the Cesspools ready for public use. Now, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls players will finally get a chance to see what exactly we missed out on back in March.

The latest patch for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will also introduce Seasons and Leaderboards to the game; two more systems that Blizzard hopes will give the game's fans a bit more incentive to keep returning to Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls after you've spent a few (dozen) hours with the expansion.

While leaderboards are pretty self-explanatory, tracking everything from gold accumulation to Greater Rift completion times, Seasons represent the most interesting addition to Diablo 3 since Reaper of Souls hit stores. Each season will require players to "roll" a brand new character, and offer new achievements and rewards that are only available during that particular season.
