Companions get larger-scale influence in swtor 4.0
Most of players, may hopefully know that companion Affection will be replaced by Influence, and now we can get more details about this change. Firstly, when you make a decision, the companion character will show his reaction, and whether ahe agrees or disagrees with your decision, you will still build influence with them depending on their reaction and severity of the action. Secondly, it is confirmed that the converting ratio between Affection and Influence is at 1:1, meaning that players won't lose the points that they have gained so far. Finally, the previous 10,000 limit for Affection has been raised so that players can earn more Influence with each of their companions. But in other words, this may not be exciting news since some players would not like, but have to grind out more influence with existing companions. Hopefully certain difficult companions (i.e. Ashara with a female Inquisitor) are made easier.
Kotfe companions can be switched between class roles
It is not news that companions in KotFE will be capable of performing all three combat roles (Tank, DPS, and Healing). However, what worth mentioning is that they will be all cross-class companions that you can be switched between all combat roles as long as they're not currently in combat. Thus, you never need worry that if you love M1-4X but really need a healer!
Companion conversations unlocked based on story progression
It could be the most important change that Class Companion conversations can be unlocked based upon class story progression, regardless of affection/influence thresholds. Would this mean that beginning from the early access, any character that already finished their class story is able to go through all the companion dialogue and quests? Probably, it is actually an awesome feature for many players. You can choose to not blow loads of swtor credits to do the companion stories on characters, but just quickly be able to work through them now before moving into KotFE!
On top of that, companions also receive many other features. For example, once you increase your Influence Rank with that companion, you will directly increase that companion's combat and crafting performance. Want to have a try?
