If you have never played a Hunter in world of warcraft before you will want to check out this information. We'll be talking about the WOW Hunter and some proven strategies of play that will get you off on the right foot.
A party needs someone to keep tracked of whats going on within the group, this is usually the Hunters job. The Hunter is often used to attract foe's from a distance and draw them close to the party to divide and conquer. As a Hunter part of your responsibilities are to be the early warning system for your party. The Hunter is usually kept out of harms way being a long range player which is a major plus since they can't heal or resurrect themselves.
One downside of being a Hunter is that you will be asked to be the storage unit for the group, storing ammo food/water etc.. But the Hunter doesn't
just sit in the background. The Hunter is the long range weapon expert and is the only character that can rapidly fire long range weapons using the Auto Shot skill. Various wild animals in WOW can be tamed by the Hunter to fight besides him.As a Hunter you might struggle a bit in the begining but you can level up pretty quick and you will always be a welcome addition in any team.
Racial traits you should review for your Hunter:
Which Hunter race you select will effect the way you will play in world of warcraft so don't just choose one at random. Although race selection is very important, deciding on Alliance or Horde is not as both work very well as a Hunter. With the Burning Crusade expansion the draenei race is available to be a Hunter, otherwise you may choose a dwarf or night elf. Because of their gun specialization and stoneform ability, dwarves are my personal favorite race for a hunter. Naturally stealth is beneficial when playing a Hunter so the night elf is a great choice due to Prowl and Shadowmeld abilities. Many players consider the night elf to be the best choice for an Alliance Hunter. The draenei race has Heroic Presence and Gift of the Naaru which adds bonus to the hunter and the hunters pets along with healing properties.
The Horde races are equally effective at being a Hunter.
Naturally the trolls Berserker DPS increase and Bow Specialization makes them formidable Hunters. The troll has the very effective Beast Slaying talent which increases their damage to beasts. A unique benefit to the troll Hunter is their ability to replenish health with Restoration. Warstomp is a great tauren Hunter talent for keeping your enemies at bay without getting to close to them. The orc race Hunter works a little differently, using its Hardness skill to resist an enemies stun attack by 15% and using Command to increase their pets damage by 5%. With the Burning Crusades pack the blood elf allows the Hunter to use Arcane Torrent to attack enemy spell casters and boost their mana replenishment.
At the very start, no matter what character class or race you are playing I recommend keeping it simple. Every character is different and needs to be played differently, the sooner you learn how your character works the better. Letting your character die will only equal time wasted so back away from battle when the going gets tough. If you can, use range weapons or casting as well as melee for the first several levels. Pay close attention to leveling and questing and be sure to do every quest you can get your hands on. Before moving to a new region check that you have completed every quest where you are now, this will help in leveling your character up.
Study,Study,Study.
Take full advantage of every trainer for your class in each and every area of world of warcraft. And don't forget to look into what professions you might be interested in pursuing. Professions research is important, don't ignore them. Some professions are very good money makers, use this early level learning time to think about how you will build your character into the powerhouse you want it to be. It might be a little early to mention this but try to save a little gold. At level 20 you will be able to purchase a mount making it much quicker to travel in WOW.
