Candy Crush Saga App Review

The Candy Crush Saga on Facebook has been an incredible success for games developer King. Today there is an alternative to playing this game via Facebook on a PC or laptop in the form of the Candy Crush Saga app.

But, can the smartphone app deliver the same experience of that on a larger screen?

Downloading Candy Crush

The game file is a hefty 36MB so you may want to download the game via Wi-Fi to save both time and your smartphone’s data bundle. Over Wi-Fi the game will download in roughly five minutes depending upon the speed of your connection.

At the base of this review I have referenced a link from which you can download Candy Crush for either Apple iOS or Android powered phones.

Candy Crush Game

Upon opening the app you will be welcomed by two options. The first will allow you to begin a new game whilst the second will allow you to sync the game with Facebook.

If you are already working your way through the saga on Facebook then syncing will allow you to keep your existing progress.

The important thing to remember when playing Candy Crush on a different device is that you will need an internet connection to pick up your latest progress. You can however sync your smartphone at home via Wi-Fi and after this you can then play offline and then sync the phone again when you return.

Dreamworld

There are now two modes of play available in the Candy Crush app. The first is the standard game with its 500 levels.

But, if you visit the game progress screen you will now see Odus the owl and you can tap on him to enter the Dreamworld.

Dreamworld delivers a whole host of new levels and the gameplay holds a new twist that will delight those who are either stuck on a level in the original part of the game or have already completed the saga.

Can the smartphone app deliver the same experience of that on a larger screen?

I tested this app on an Android smartphone with a 4-inch screen and I can honestly say that the game doesn't just match that on a larger screen but far exceeds it.

Where I originally thought it would be difficult to use touch operation on those coloured candies I found that operation was both accurate and immersing.

I also found that it was a great benefit to play the game on a smartphone which then left my laptop free to stream TV or download files.

Tip – A quick tip to future users is that you can enter the settings of the game by tapping the not so obvious yellow arrow icon in the bottom left of the display. From here you can turn off the music and sound effects as well as viewing the how to play guide and checking your game notifications.
