A druid is one of the most dynamic classes in the game, and since they can play literally any role, depending on your spec, then your choices of professions are just as varied. However, the Best Druid Professions in WoW are those that will contribute directly to your gameplay experience. Read on and I will discuss the different combinations of the best professions for your druid.
Best Druid Professions While Leveling
No matter what the class, your best profession while leveling is always going to be gathering. If you focus on gathering, you will make loads of extra gold, and also get an experience boost for every mat gathered. For a druid, I would choose skinning and Herbalism. Each of these skills is beneficial for several reasons.
Skinning is a very profitable profession and is easy to level and profit from due to the sheer number of mobs you can collect skins, scales, and hides from. In addition, the passive crit bonus from skinning will help you in any spec you choose. Skinners also have a chance to loot the “Strange Bloated Stomach” while skinning which contains extra volatiles for even more profit.
Herbalism is another excellent choice as herbs are plentiful, and they are always in high demand due to the fact that Inscription and Alchemy use the materials gathered. These professions are constantly in demand of herbs because of the consumable materials that they produce. Potions are used frequently, as well as scrolls and glyphs. In addition to the profit you can earn from the herbs sold, Herbalism offers another bonus for people who choose that profession. Lifeblood is an excellent ability that gives you a Heal over Time, and a bonus to haste for 20 seconds. You can also gather herbs while in flight form, which makes you extremely fast and efficient.
Best Druid Professions at 85
At level 85, you will want to choose any of the crafting professions that were previously mentioned. Don’t choose crafting while leveling. It will slow you down tremendously. It’s much faster to do it once you’re level 85. However, once you are level 85, you can begin leveling your profession.
Leatherworking is a Druid’s best friend. With the number of different talent specs available, you will need several sets of gear. It’s best to be able to craft a new set of gear in a bind if you decide you’re going for a total re-spec. Leatherworking is also a potentially profitable profession because of the unique leg armors that you can craft. These will be desired by any melee class, whether DPS or tanks. Other items of note are capes, which can be used by any melee class. One ability that sets leatherworkers aside is the ability emboss bracers, giving them a stat boost that is almost twice as great as any enchanting enhancement available.
Alchemy and inscription are also excellent choices for a druid as well. Inscription offers a choice of shoulder enchants which negates the need for daily quest grinding with Therazane. You also get to create some decent offhand items and relics, which are both very beneficial to druids, specifically balance or resto druids.
Alchemy is a highly profitable profession due to the ever increasing demand for potions, flasks and transmutations. The combination with unique alchemist’s stone trinkets increases the effect of potions, and has a very significant stat boost, depending on which one you decide to make. Overall, Alchemy is a very flexible profession with something to offer any druid spec, making this one of the best Druid professions.
In the end, I would choose a combination of two of either of the above crafting professions. This will give you a very powerful and profitable combination that will both provide you gear, and will give you a passive boost to your stats. Remember while leveling a druid, you want to choose gathering professions, but at max level, you will want to focus on power leveling your crafting professions.
