Choosing the enchanting profession has many benefits once a player reaches later levels in the profession but is also the trickiest of the WoW professions to level! Enchanting can grant a character the ability to enchant items and added benefits and buffs to them which can prove to be very lucrative at later levels of the profession. The problem is that enchanting can often drain a lot of resources whilst leveling early on.
Enchanting requires special materials known as reagents that can generally be brought from the auction houses or vendors but can also be applied by "disenchanting". Disenchanting is the means to take an existing item in your inventory and disenchant it meaning you will strip it to its bare elements. The materials extracted from disenchanted item can then be used to enchant a different item.
There are four different enchanting reagents categories that each contain a group of individual reagents within those categories. The main reagents required for enchanting are Dusts, Essences, Shards and Crystals.
Gathering the required reagents is fairly straight forward to start and you'll gather many just completing quests and venturing through Azeroth. In the earliest stages of level 1-50 you can even just disenchant your old green gear and gather the required reagents that way.
Getting started with the enchanting profession is straight forward, you'll first need to locate your trainer in the one of the big towns or cities and the start training as as an Enchanting Apprenticeship. Your trainer will then instruct you on the steps to complete each level, it's very much a repetitive process of gathering the required reagents and items and then applying the enchant too progress through levels in the enchanting profession.
There are several milestones in which you will achieve a new status throughout your enchanting profession.
