Whether you're new to Madden, or you have been playing for years, there is a simple strategy that you can begin using that will allow you to frustrate your opponent, get more wins, and move up on the Xbox Live or PS3 leaderboards. Best of all, the following strategy is 100% sim, and extremely simple to implement into most NFL-style offenses.
I realize that this all probably sounds too good to be true, but the fact is, if you would like to be better at Madden, and win more games, you should pay close attention to the following strategy that I am about to share with you. This is a simple strategy that I have actually been using for the past 4 years. Since I started using it, I have been beating some of the best Madden players, and usually rank between 200 and 500 on the Madden leaderboards. If that doesn't impress you, then you probably don't need to be reading my tips, because you're probably already good enough as it is.
With all of that being said, let's take the time to look into this strategy that you can begin implementing today. I know this is going to be extremely simple once you read it, but trust me, it's also extremely effective.
Time of Possession.
If you want to know the true secret to the success of most elite Madden players, NFL coaches, and college football teams, it's having a high time of possession. I know this sounds simple, but having a high time of possession requires some skill. For instance, in order to have a high time of possession, you have to milk the clock. And in order to milk the clock, you have to move the ball slowly down the field. For some people, this is easier siad than others. Point is, if you want to win more games, your goal should be to keep the ball out of your opponent's possession as much as you possibly can. The more you do this, the more likely you will be to win.
Frustrate Your Opponent.
The secret sauce behind this method of madness is to be patient, and let your opponent get frustrated. Starting at the very first time you have the ball, even if your opponent has already scored, let the playclock run down to 1 to 2 seconds every single time, before snapping the ball. This is 110% sim, but is going to frustrate most opponents. Let's face it, most people want to play offense. To be honest, I could careless if someone scores on me quickly. It's those slow, methodical drives that drive me nuts. Give it a shot, be patient, and trust me, for most opponents, you're going to drive them completely mad.
This Strategy is Simple, but Requires Skill.
If you're the type of player who puts up more than 35 points a game, and you don't have a problem with your opponent putting up points on you, then this strategy probably isn't for you. This strategy is more for those players who don't score a ton of points, and need to keep the game close in order to win.
Nevertheless, this strategy requires a lot of skill. You have to slowly move the ball down the field, be patient, and have decent stick and playcalling skills, as discussed in any Madden 13 strategy guide. If you're going 3 in out over and over again, don't expect this to work. If you can control the ball for 75% of the game, and keep your opponent from scoring, then you're doing something right.
