I'm going to make this post about the most useful Eve Online Ship Fitting Tools that can help you in your journey to become a skilled and respected player. Check this blog regularly for more tools (description and links) available the Eve players.
Each tool will have a short description, an image (if available) and a link where you can use it (if it's a browser tool) or download it (if it's an offline application).
Here we go...
Ship Fitting Tools
1. Eve Fitting Tool (EFT).
Eve Fitting Tool is the most powerful fitting tool available.
It's most used because it has many features that can help a player plan or test a fitting in advance.
It allows you to upload your character skill levels (via the Eve API key) thus shows you YOUR available CPU/PG for a ship you can fly.
Eve Online Fitting Tool
Tool Type:
Offline/Application - download the latest version - EFT 2.20.2
Platform - Windows platforms (there are currently no plans for supporting other platforms)
Pros:
- it is highly configurable thus it can be very accurate.
- uses the Eve API keys to have you ship's attributes (CPU/PG, resistances, etc) accurately shown based on your currently trained skills
- calculates and shows EHP (effective HP), DPS (damage per seconds), Capacitor and Shield recharge rates and many other metrics that can be useful to determine if a fitting is viable or not
- can also include gang bonuses
- you can use it offline.
Cons:
- to fully use it you need to take time to make some configuration / integration (like the API keys for your character skills)
- it is an application that only runs on Windows platforms.
2. Battleclinic's Ship Loadout Creator (click for link)
A browser based ship fitting tool.
You need to register first in order to be able to create a browser based ship fitting.
Battleclinic Eve Ship Loadout Creator
Pros:
- it's relatively easy to use
- it's browser based thus you can run it on any browser on any device (be it Linux-PC, MAC-Laptop or a mobile device)
- a fitting you create can be public and others can criticize it and/or help you improve it.
Cons:
- not many configuration variables available. You cannot see max CPU/PG available per ship and per character thus you can use modules on a ship that might not fit in game
- does not show the metrics that would be useful to determine the viability of a fitting. If you have your fitting made public you will often have to use the EFT to post the above metrics for others to comment on your package.
3. Null-Sec Browser Based Ship Fitting Tool (Hangar)
Hangar is a browser based eve ship fitting tool from null-sec It's still in Beta phase but it's functional.
It's my personal favorite fitting tool because it's almost as configurable as EFT but it's browser based and very intuitive.
Hangar Ship Fitting Tool from Null-Sec
Pros:
- it's browser based thus can be used on any platform that can run a browser
- nice graphics
- highly configurable. You can set specific skills at specific levels to determine some ship attributes (CPU value, etc). You can also "plug" some implants that might add bonuses to some ship metrics (increased max CPU for example)
- you can also use the Eve API key to have your real character's skills set to the real values.
- you can export and save your fitting for later use
Cons:
- it's still in Beta and sometime thing might not work
All the above eve online ship fitting tools have their usefulness. EFT is the most powerful, Battleclinic's has the most exposure and others can help you fine tune your fitting while null-sec it's still young but has all the pros of others and eliminating almost all of the cons.
I suggest that you try each (they are relatively easy to use) and see which one is best for your daily fitting needs.
Fly safe !
