The Smuggler Class Highlights In Star Wars The Old Republic

One of the upcoming Star Wars MMORPG classes will be the smuggler. The two specs for this class will be scoundrel and gunslinger, and while the gunslinger is mostly DPS based, the scoundrel will have a lot more healing and support abilities.

The basic role of the scoundrel will be a DPSer, probably mid range. He may also heal in different situations. In addition to being able to stealth, the scoundrel class can also throw bombs and grenades which he makes by hand. These shrapnel devices will cause huge damage and enforce a bleed effect on enemies hit by it. As far as healing goes, this class will have a slow heal over time med-pack ability.

The smuggler class will be capable of shooting ranged attacks with a long range weapon, or by throwing grenades at his targets. He can also heal and enact supportive measures to protect all people on the same team.

If necessary, this class will also be able to use mid range abilities such as stealthing and then doing rogue like gun attacks. Scrappers and smugglers will have abilities to allow them to melee where it is necessary. It will be an extremely versatile class.

You will also have threat reducing abilities, one known as surrender for this specific class. There are a few skill trees that let you boost either personal damage or group buffs. Depending on where your scrapper/smuggler is located on the field of battle, these abilities will have different ways to be enacted.

If you see something referred to as the sawbones tree, this is supposed to help the class' buff abilities. Also, healing abilities in some cases, and possibly support as well. Luck is a shared skill which will help to boost energy regen and other abilities that the class is given as it levels up.

The class will have numerous stealth generators, allowing it to be an effective stealther when necessary, done by using a field of stealth with a generator. The scoundrel will have some time in which they're protected after applying this screen and then lowering it again after combat. You can only play as certain races for the class.

However if you're a player who wants to get down and dirty with your opponents in a more melee/gun-combo style of fighting, there is a skill tree called Dirty Fighting which will allow you to do so. So this class is definitely one of the most changeable in The Old Republic and can be a great healing or dps option depending on your preferences. Your talent build will play a large part in how you advance your class, and how your role in a group will be determined. PvP and PVE factors will also come into play, as will your own skill as a player.
