Halo 4 Is Coming
The latest installment in the Halo franchise, Halo 4 has been given a release date. In the first installment of 343 Industries new "Reclaimer" trilogy Halo 4, we will find the Master Chief waking from the cryogenic sleep aboard the USNC frigate, Forward Into Dawn after he was lost in space at the end of Halo 3.
The Master Chief Returns
343 Industries, a subsidiary of Microsoft, who was established back in 2007 to take over the Halo franchise from Bungie. The company takes it's name from the game character 343 Guilty Spark. The developers official game summary states "set in the aftermath of Halo 3, Master Chief returns to confront his own destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe".
A New Focus
Although the plot sounds familiar, 343 claims the new trilogy will not be focused on the FPS genre (although there will be plenty of FPS action), but will incorporate more mystery, exploration and discovery. From the opening scene the master chief will be dealing with Forerunner technology. The Forerunners are an ancient race of beings who vanished from existence 100,000 years before Halo began.
The Halo 4 developers are being sparse with information about the game. However, it is said a key portion of the plot involves Cortana. Apparently her exposure to Halo and operating beyond her lifespan have caused her to become "rampant". Another bit of information was given to us in 2001, when the developers revealed there would be a "shield world" which was described as a monstrous structure like a "Dyson Sphere", a concept of physicist Freeman Dyson which hypothetically could encompass a star and capture most of it's energy.
Release Date Announced
Microsoft announced on April 17th, that Halo 4 would be released on November 6th, 2012. Usually early November is known as Call of Duty's game release space, but Microsoft appears to be banking on the cult following the Halo series possess. Many die hard Halo gamers are excited about the release after watching the Halo 4 trailer.
