Millions all over the planet are actually getting prepared for the upcoming release of Star Wars the Old Republic. With sales out of the roof before launch, EA, Lucas Arts, and Bioware must be ready for millions to simultaneously log in. Now being prepared for the launch and having the upper-hand on your competition is great isn't it? Many people are taking action for the game by creating guild sites and developing a following before the game is even out.
Star Wars as such a global following that the game will only continue to expand over the next years do to word of mouth. I do not believe you can say Star Wars to anyone these days and they would not know what you are talking about. The staff involved with this giant release is already massive. Full time support lines already in place and a staff to monitor five million people at launch.
A lot of people are expecting so much from Star Wars the Old Republic. People talking of vacation days from work, just to play the game full time. Because of World of Warcraft, many people do feel they know what kind of game to expect from Star Wars the Old Republic. So many features to resemble Blizzard's World of Warcraft. From the fighting style, all the way to their Galactic Trade Network.
The fighting style resembles that of World of Warcraft. The combat deals with different encounters that require your team to work together in tasks while fighting the boss. It associates itself with a main tank who's job it is to keep the attention of the boss. then you have the healers who constantly keep the group alive by dishing out health bonuses. Now do not forget about the damage classes that are destroying the enemy. Star Wars the Old Republic will be no different in that it will involve everyone work together as a team to complete set objectives along the line.
In Star Wars the old Republic they talk of a Galactic Trade Network. This will be almost identical to that of World of Warcraft's auction house. Players will be able to put up items they have found along their journey for auction. Other people will be able to come in and either out right buy the item for a set price or place a lower bid on it. This draws a lot of different aspects to the game. Their will be a large eternal economical structure inside the game. It will be EA and Bioware's job to monitor the economy at all times.
