The new Pandaren race in Mists of Pandaria are the new continents native race who until recently lived in peace and harmony quietly isolated from the visible continents by a mystical mist that hid their continent away.
The Pandarens didn't always live in peace though as they had once been slaves to the Mogu a fierce race of power hungry warlords. The Pandarens stood up to their oppressors though and saw victory for their people, showing that the Pandaren's are peaceful, honorable yet deadly warriors.
As chaos unfolded in the surrounding continents of Azeroth, namely with the war raging against the Alliance and Horde factions, the Pandaren emperor cast a powerful spell that surrounded the Pandaren continent with a mystical mist hiding it away from danger for tens of thousands of years.
The Pandaria continent would remain peaceful until a raging war at sea between the Alliance and Horde factions saw them wash up on the jagged rocks of the Pandaria continent.
At the same time there were a small group of explorers from the Pandaria continent who made their way through the Pandaren mists and set out to sea on a giant turtle with the ambition of finding new and unexplored continents.
The community of explorers happily lived out their lives roaming the sea on the turtles back until one day the turtle ventured into Maelstrom and immediate danger is cast upon the Pandarens...
Starting out as a Pandaren character
As the story of Mists of Pandaria from above has unfolded a player will start their journey as a Pandaren on the back of the giant Turtle where they'll complete a few simple training tasks to get their character more powerful.
After a while the stability of the turtle will become unstable and it's the young Pandarens job to find the problem and deal with it accordingly. During this troubling time, the Pandaren explorers will encounter another race for the first time where they'll then decide if they are for the Alliance or Faction.
The only downfall to getting started with the Pandaren race is that you'll not reach mainland until you've cleared a few levels, which are spent on the back of the turtle, this means you'll not pick your faction until you've reached roughly level 20 and you can't receive mail or join any guilds.
There are a few advantages that lend there-self to the Pandaren race though such as their unique Pandaren racial abilities such as "Well Fed" which offers stat boosts for eating certain types of foods.
This new race also have some pretty nifty moves for stunning opponents which can be of use in the Mists of Pandaria battlegrounds for quickly stunning an enemy and recharging your next attack.
