Mists of Pandaria - Blizzard has Confirmed the New World of Warcraft Expansion
At Blizzcon 2011, Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced the New World of Warcraft Expansion: Mists of Pandaria. This expansion is essentially going remake the structure of WoW and how you play your character. Read on, and you will learn some of the latest changes and features in Mists of Pandaria, the New World of Warcraft Expansion.
Mists of Pandaria: What's New in the new World of Warcraft Expansion?
New Race - The Pandaren, will be released as a neutral race at first, and by the end of their opening story line, you must choose whether to join the Alliance or the Horde. They also come with some interesting racials, several of which make them a very desirable class to play.
I'm interested to see how this works out for the new World of Warcraft Expansion and how popular these fat fuzzy guys will be.
3 new Raids, 9 new Dungeons, and 3 Classic Dungeons remade as Heroics. Scholomance and Scarlet Monastery will be remade into Heroic Dungeons. Wait, didn't I say 3? Scarlet Monastery was divided into wings from the start, and it will be once again. Currently four separate wings, the Heroic version will be remixed and combined into two new Heroic Dungeons. In addition, on launch of Mists of Pandaria, there will be 3 new raids, ready to play from day 1. Instead of holding back for the first patch, or unlocking, the new tier of gear will be available to players the moment they hit level 90... and get geared up.
New Class - The Monk, a Martial Arts master who focuses on un-armed combat using weapons only for devastating finishing moves. The monk is not a hero class, and will start at level 1. He can wear cloth or leather armor, and will use either agility or intellect as a primary stat, depending on your spec. Different specs will allow the monk to be a tank, healer, or DPS class. The monk also has 3 all new resources - Chi, Light Force, and Dark Force. Chi generates slowly over time, but some abilities will consume it to produce Light or Dark Force. Other abilities will Consume these Forces for powerful finishing attacks.
A completely new and rebuild talent system. The old talent trees have been completely removed and replaced with a whole new system of abilities, rather than passive buffs or procs. You still have the option of choosing which Spec you want at level 10, and that will have a strong affect on your play style and the abilities you will be using. Now, however, talents are only available every 15 levels, and instead of a choice of passive buffs and procs, you can choose one of three abilities. For example, at level 15, many classes have a choice of mobility type abilities. You have three abilities to choose from, and you can only choose one of them in your current build.
More Features of Mists of Pandaria - What else comes in the New World of Warcraft Expansion?
PvE scenarios - Instanced Objective based group quests that take place over several stages. Each stage will have an objective like killing a certain number of enemies, rescuing civilians, destroying enemy structures, or killing bosses.
Pet Battle System - Allow your non combat pets to be named, level up, and battle against other pets in turn based combat.
Challenge Mode - A race to the finish of a dungeon with rankings and rewards. Compare yourself or your guild against your server, your Real ID friends, or across all servers.
The Level Cap has been raised to level 90 - Blizzard is keeping the margin of levels between expansions small to focus on end game content in Mists of Pandaria.
New Continent - Pandaria features 6 new zones with a definite Asian feeling, and a compelling story.
As with all things WoW, things are still subject to change before the New World of Warcraft Expansion is released. Nothing is set in stone yet, so make sure you are staying up to date on the latest news for Mists of Pandaria.
