Blizzard is aware of the fact that players sometimes stand around while waiting for a dungeon or a raid to form, especially those twenty-five man raids in the middle of the night when there's no one around to fill all the spots. In the case of a raid while you are in group, you cannot complete quests. Sure, some players can load Peggle as an addon mini-game for passing the time, but others choose a different past-time. These are sharing and showing off their World of Warcraft companions. With the new Mists of Pandaria expansion Blizzard has introduced the Pet Battle System, which brings a whole new dimension into the game.
World of Warcraft Companions have always been a sense of pride and envy. Many players have enjoyed hours upon hours collecting as many of the 224 available companions in their quest to gain all the available achievements. Companions have become more detailed in their emotions and sounds. Remember Lil’ XT? The most annoying companion made in the game!
There are nine companion categories for those 224 available companions. There are mechanical, flying, aquatic, invertebrates, reptiles, humanoids, seasonal, mammals and finally mythical. Can you imagine sending your pet “Muckbreath” (baby crocolisk) after another player’s Lil’ X (mechanical) and winning? Sweet victory.
How about battling and capturing new unique companions in the wild? You will gain access to approximately 100 companions you capture in the wild if you are clever enough to battle and beat them in their environments at certain times of the day or night, or such times as when it's raining or snowing. There will be PVP companion battles, and it will only keep track of your winning, not losing, so as to keep tempers down.
Pets will gain levels as you battle them and they gain experience. They will also be able to learn up to six skills which you can fight with three at a time. They will have their own talents much like your own with two per row but you can only choose one of those. You will only be able to change these outside of battle. Of course by putting so much time and effort into each pet it's only fitting that you be able to name them their own unique name. After all, who wants to see pet battle with the same generic name all the time?
This whole new dimension in the World of Warcraft known as the Pet Battle System will bring hundreds of hours of pleasure to lots of players new and old. More achievements will be added for all those achievement whores out there. Are you one of those? You might just be one once you start playing with your pets. There is a premium addon that guides you to every pet in the game, along with all available mounts called Zygor Pet and Mounts guide that I have a preview of. This is a must have for anyone wanting to up their game with pet and mount collecting even further.
