World Of Warcraft Vanity Pets

In the world of World of Warcraft there are many different kinds of pets that a player can own. Although some pets can be useful and assist the player while traveling, vanity pets are just there to follow the player around. These adorable little pets are collectible and there are already more than 100 available in the game at all times, as well as many that come out for specific events or seasons like “Winter’s Veil.” Vanity pets can make noises, some that are annoying (Lil’ XT); they can do tricks, are just plain cute or that are just really really cool, but they are so collectable.

There are many reasons to collect World of Warcraft vanity pets. Some players just want to have an extensive collection that consists of rare and unique pets to show off to other players. However, the achievements that can be earned by having enough pets are much more important to the game. Some achievements can only be unlocked by having 50 or 75 vanity pets, which is quite challenging. For example; the Pet Carrier is won after collecting 50 vanity pets or the Fawn’s Salt Lick after collecting 75 vanity pets. You can also win the Pug after completing 100 WOTLK heroic dungeons with random people. Vanity pets are also big business in World of Warcraft and it is possible to make a lot of gold by selling them.

Players who want a large collection of vanity pets have to know where to find them. As with everything else in the world of World of Warcraft, there are pets exclusive to each of the races and alliances. These pets must be obtained directly. However, some World of Warcraft vanity pets can only be acquired if the player has sufficient reputation or through quests. More challenging to collect are vanity pets that are dropped by certain enemy bosses. Some are only available for purchase directly from Battlenet store, while others even still, have to be earned.

Players can possess as many World of Warcraft vanity pets as they can collect, but it is only possible to have one summoned at any given time. The chosen companion pet can be called by using the corresponding tab and if another is already following then it will automatically return to the player’s inventory. World of Warcraft vanity pets that are collected or unique to a season, such as the Tiny Snowman, can only be summoned during that short time, because they require snowballs. Try keeping snowballs lying around! OMG I love to throw those at people.

There is even a way to be able to own all of the other faction’s pets. The only thing is, is that you need a faction player opposite to what character you are collecting them for. In other words, let’s say I have an 85 alliance player that I am collecting for. I happen to have another character on the horde side that is level 85. Gather all non-binding companions or vanity pets around the world of World of Warcraft in Azeroth, Outlands and Northrend and head to Booty Bay…

This may or may not be the tricky part. My horde character puts each pet up for sale on the horde side in Booty Bay, and then I hope back on my alliance character, or ideally, do it with a friend on the alliance side in Booty Bay while you are using Ventrillo, it’s a breeze, and purchase what was just put on the auction house block on the horde side before someone else does.

Rinse and repeat, until you have all the horde sides’ vanity pets, or vice a versa. There is a good deal of pets available on both sides, and the serious collector won’t stop at anything to get the opposite factions vanity pets. Also, the example I used is level 85 toons. You can do it with any level characters on either side. Some are just harder to get to if you are lower level characters.

Some are only available from doing quests, such as the Chicken Egg from the quest CLUCK! While others still can be found only as a drop in areas such as Feralas, where you can obtain the Sprite Darter Egg no matter what faction you are. Others are available from rewards, such as the Core Hound Pup when you order the World of Warcraft authenticator. The auction house is full of unique and exotic vanity pets and of course the more common pets found in and around the world of World of Warcraft.

Collecting companion pets or vanity pets is a fun addition to the world of World of Warcraft, and has been around since the beginning. You can collect most of them in a great deal of travel on both sides, some you will even find at the auction house. Happy hunting!
