Making more isks from mining: Part I

In our previous article we’ve discussed about mining for those who are new to Eve Online’s basic mining principles and for those who didn’t manage to explore this kind of wonderful profession. In simple words mining means finding asteroids and stripping them while collecting valuable ore that can be used in production later.

You can find several types of asteroids in high security systems like Pyroxeres, Veldspar and Scordite. While the minerals from these asteroids are not very valuable they can be found in abundance in high-sec systems. The rule is simple – you’ll find more valuable recourses in the low security systems and the cheapest ones in high-sec space. At the start it’s better to explore the high-sec space. But if you’re an experienced player and want to make more money it’s better to go to the low-sec systems.

At the start it’s great to buy a Bantam that is the great starter ship for mining. And you’ll have to have mining skill up to 4 to be able to use T2 lasers. So it’s good to use a pair of mining lasers. Try to mine with the use of the Bantam until you have Caldari Frigate and Mining trained to level 4.

There are two way to deal with the ore you’ve mined. At first you can fly back to your station every time you fill the cargo hold. The way is to jettison the ore in a cargo container and then use a ship with a big cargo hold that will be able to transport the ore to your station. The Caldari Badger will be a great option for a transport ship. Later on it is recommended to buy a Minmatar Mammoth as it has great cargo hold.

When you get enough ore it’s better to sell it at the local market without refining it. Refining will end up you loosing too much eve isk because a beginner won’t have enough refining skills. In time it is recommended to have Refining up to level 4 so you’ll be able to make more eve isk from the minerals you’ve refined from the collected ore.
 
And the most part of this process is to find the best prices on the market and if they’re low – fly to regions where the prices are higher. As you fly in search for the best prices you gain more knowledge of the market. It is very important for you if you choose the path of the miner and want to make more eve online isk.
