So you are one of the millions of people who love to play Words with Friends? Keep reading this story, because more than half of the words that are about to be revealed to you will either blow you away or you’ll simply scratch your head and think to yourself “is that really a legitimate word though”?
In the past year, I’ve killed my fair share of time trying to come up with words that get me high scores in my matches. I don’t like to call myself an addict, simply prefer to say that I could not ignore the rings on my phone every time my opponent had played a word.

In my efforts to improve my game skills and with that my vocabulary, I have encountered and accumulated a top 20 list of the weirdest Words With Friends words along with their definition and the number of points in the game. Some of these words are flat out bizarre, are you ready? Dive right in then!

1. Ventriloquizing – 43 WWF points and 37 scrabble points
Ventriloquizing means to speak or sound in the manner of a ventriloquist. A ventriloquist is in term a person who is able to speak with little or no lip movement and makes sure it appears to the audience the voice is not coming from the speaker. Think of Jeff Dunham and the infamous “Achmed the Dead Terrorist”.

2. Oxyphenbutazone – 44 WWF points and 41 scrabble points
The meaning of oxyphenbutazone (I have trouble pronouncing it every time) is an anti-inflammatory drug that tends to be used to treat either arthritis or bursitis.

3. Immunocytochemistry – 42 WWF points and 38 scrabble points
Just that word alone sounds scary right? When chemists perform an immunocytochemistry they are trying to detect the presence of chemical components of cells using antibodies. The antibodies allow the visualization of the chemical components under a microscope.

4. Oxytetracycline – 34 WWF points and 32 scrabble points
With oxytentracycline I was lost after OXY. I was relating this word to the word oxygen. However, it is a dull-yellow, crystalline antibiotic powder that’s mainly used in treating infections caused by streptococci, staphylococci, Gram-negative bacilli, rickettsia, and certain protozoans and viruses.

I bet after reading this you’ll give becoming a pharmacologist another thought.

5. Zyzzyvas - 43 WWF points and 44 scrabble points
Here’s another odd one for you. Zyzzyvas belong to a family of South American beetles that are often destructive to plants. I’m watching out for any beetles when I go to South America.

As you’ve probably guessed by now, these aren’t exactly your average day-to-day words you’d use but at least you can now say that you know a few very extraordinary words that 99% of all people have never heard of.

I cannot leave you without sharing my bonus word, conceptualizing. The base points for the word are 39 for WWF and 31 for Scrabble. Evidently, you can score higher if you place the word on TL or DW tiles which will triple or double your points.
