Ranking from 1-20 is extremely easy. This is because you will be discovering new missions, weapons, gear and planets. This keeps the game fresh and exciting. As with almost anything else, the fun is found in the Journey. The main idea behind this Destiny ranking guide is to play smarter not harder.

The main aspects to rank fast in Destiny is, Patrols, Challenge yourself and have fun. I will not go in depth with each rank, or where to go for each level etc… This is up to you.

Group Bounties and Missions in One

At level 4 you unlock the option to complete bounties for both experience, and reputation.

This is important because it allows you to kill multiple birds with one stone. If you pick up a bounty that requires you to melee 100 fallen enemies, and also a bounty that requires you to complete a certain mission, you can complete both in one run. This is a great use of time and you can really make a lot of progress. There are also crucible bounties that you can use in conjunction with one another, you will also gain some experience and gear for completing crucible matches.

You can only take on five Destiny bounties at once, so choose wisely. Some of these are easier to complete than others. So look for a collection of Destiny bounties that you can complete quickly off the bat. This will allow you to level up quickly thanks to large rewards.

After you complete the Destiny bounty you need to go back to Xander 99-40 to collect your reward and pick up your next Destiny bounties.

Play Crucible

This in conjunction with bounties is a very efficient way to rank fast in Destiny. You will earn experience whether you win or lose in the crucible. Completing bounties, crucible matches and performing well you can really speed the process up. If laying waste to other Guardians is your cup of tea, then play the crucible.

Play with Higher Level Friends

If you have friends that don’t mind bringing the extra luggage along, you can rank fast in Destiny. This is because you are fighting higher level enemies and thus being rewarded accordingly. You will earn more experience for playing harder level strikes, as well as a great challenge. Having higher level friends can also run you through low level strikes and missions much faster than alone. This is a great option as you basically just run through each level, the higher level friends are clearing your path.

Find a Loot Cave

This is a controversial subject among destiny players. A loot cave is a spawn point in Destiny where you repeatedly kill, run out of the zone, return and kill again. Over and Over and Over. I personally use loot caves when I am waiting on friends to log in, or trying to decide what I want to do. I am at a stage in the game where any gear that is not raid gear is basically useless. I also like looking at all of the pretty colors of the horde of engrams. A loot cave like the Venus Loot Cave can serve a great purpose in leveling. It allows you to complete certain bounties relatively fast, obtain engrams, and level up weapons/gear. Depending on your stage in ranking this may be a viable option.

Be a Higher Rank Than the Mission

An easy way to rank fast in Destiny is to perform patrols, bounties, loot cave etc… Until you reach a few levels above the current story or strike mission. This is similar and a bit less effective then having higher level friends run you through levels. This will make it easier and quicker to complete the missions. This is much more effective then dying 20 times in one mission. Taking farming a loot cave into consideration, it may take the same amount of time in the end, but instead of dying over and over you will be collecting engrams in the ranking process.

Do What You Enjoy

This is the most important tip to rank fast in Destiny. Destiny can be a very “grindy” experience, especially when you reach level 20. You must figure out how you enjoy playing. Is it farming repeatedly? Completing heroic level missions or simply playing crucible? The great thing about Destiny is that you can play it however you want. There is not one path to the higher levels in Destiny.
