Pokémon Conquest Basics

Pokémon Conquest, as good as it is, is a game that does not really describe a whole lot of its mechanics to players. Collecting more Warriors and Pokémon

How to Gain Allies:
After completing a couple of the training battles a character named Keiji will appear and will give you the steps to collecting more Warriors for your party. Regions that you have beaten the main leader will open up a cave. These caves and other areas are where Warriors act like Mercenaries. If you defeat all of the Pokémon in the area battle in 4 moves or less the Warriors will lend you their services. From here they become a part of your party and can be controlled, moved around and used at your disposal.

How to Link with more Pokémon:
After completing 5 or so Kingdom takeovers Keiji will again return to tell you about linking with other Pokémon. Certain wild Pokémon will have likes for your character. The amount of liking will be indicated with a bronze, silver or gold medallion with gold being the strongest possibility for a link.

In a battle, or while trying to recruit more Warriors, if you move next to a wild Pokémon that has an affinity for a certain Warrior you will be able to try to link with them. Any of the Warriors with you can possibly link with the Pokémon so make sure you check a couple of them to see who is most likely to link. To do that try looking at a wild Pokémon with any of your characters selected. Find the Warrior in your party that has the highest medal rating. The higher the medal rating the higher the chance of a 100% link which will give you stronger Pokémon.

Stats Guide

Here we go over a quick review of what the different stats mean for a Pokémon. From the Kingdom screen if you click on list (or press the y button) and then click on any of the Warriors you can see more information about the Warrior and Pokemon. Hit the L and R buttons to cycle through the info to see more details including the Pokémon stats. Here is some basic information to take away from a Pokémon stat screen.

• Attack – Improving a Pokémon’s Attack means they cause more damage to enemies.
• Defense – Improving a Pokémon’s Defense means they recieve less damage from enemies.
• Speed – Improving a Pokémon’s speed makes it easier for their moves to hit the enmy while also making it easier for them to avoid enemies moves.

Move Ranks

All Pokémon moves have move ranks. Increasing this rank makes moves more powerful and makes it easier to achieve bonus effects after performing a move.Look at the number next to a move to see its move rank. To increase the move rank battle wild Pokémon, Kingdom leaders, and other Warlords. To increase a move rank to its maximum level, you will need to achieve a 100% link with your Pokémon.

Party Management

Swapping party members is key to being prepared for the next battle. Having the right Pokémon and Warriors by your side can make or break your success. For this reason I was surprised the game didn’t really show you how to swap party members to get the correct balance of Pokémon going into the next endeavor.

How to Swap Warriors:
All of the party movement is controlled through the March button on the region map. Select the region that has the Pokémon that you would like to use for the next battle. A menu will pop up that will allow you to select which Warrior with paired Pokémon you want to swap into your party. Checkmark the group of Pokémon groups that you want to move into your party. Hit confirm and then select the region that your party is located at. A menu will pop up and ask you to select which Warriors to replace. Click the Pokémon that you don’t want in your party anymore and hit confirm. Then the Pokémon teams will swap out and change regions. Finally, after all those menus, you will have the Pokémon, Warrior team that you will want for the next fight.

How to Swap Pokémon:
The number of Pokémon a Warrior can carry is listed in the Warriors stats. To get to the Warrior stats screen  in the Regions map hit Y or click on the List button on the lower 3DS screen. When you find the correct Warrior (which is a little bit of a challenge scrolling through them) click the A button. If you hit the R button you can check the capacity of the Warrior to see how many Pokémon they can carry. To switch the Pokémon, click on the touch screen on the Pokémon you wish to equip for the next battle. The Pokémon will switch and give you important information on how strong they are linked to you as well as moves and other information important for battle.

Equipping & Using Items Guide

How to equip items:
To equip items in Pokémon Conquest you have to be on the regions screen. From the Regions screen click on the Kingdom of the Warriors you want to equip items to. One of the options along with enter and info is the equip option. From this menu you can equip one, and only one, item to bring into battle so choose wisely!

How to use items:
Items can only be used in battle and help a ton in later battles. To use an item select the Pokémon with the item that you want to use. From there, press the X button or click on the Warrior button. The item will be listed right under the Warrior Ability. You can only use an item once so be careful. Using an item does not take up that Pokémon’s turn.

Delegating Guide

After you obtain a few Kingdoms you will want to put your Pokémon and Warriors to work through Delegating. Delegating certain tasks will let you progress the storyline while still getting the results you are looking for. There are three different actions that you can take. Just make sure to delegate efficiently so that you can become a stronger ruler.

• Training – Delegating training in Pokémon Conquest strengthens the bond between Warriors and Pokémon. This is very good for Pokémon that don’t already have a strong link with their Warrior. Stick some of your weaker teams in safe places and delegate train to make your army stronger.
• Search – If you’re looking to expand your list of Pokémon and Warriors then search is the option for you. Delegating search in Pokémon Conquest goes out and finds new teams of Warriors and Pokémon to become your ally. If you’re hurting for numbers then delegate some of your Kingdoms to do some searching.
• Develop – Delegating develop in Pokémon Conquest raises the energy of your Pokémon and helps you by obtaining gold. If you need gold, then develop is the key to getting gold fast. Plus your Pokémon’s links and energy will go up while raking in bucko bucks.

Shop Guide

The shop is a place where players can buy and sell items. Going in the shop does use that Warriors move for the month so make sure to be careful. After selecting the shop, a menu will open up showing your all of the different Warriors in your current party and their charisma level. Warriors with higher charisma levels will be able to buy and sell items at a better rate. The four categories of items in Pokémon Conquest are:

• Single-Use – A long list of items that are consumable and help in battle. Items in the single use column are things like potions and status healers.
• Equipment – The equipment list of items are things you can put onto different Warriors to increase stats. Some of these include items that increase power, increase effect of Warrior ability and items that improve the link between Warrior & Pokémon
• Elements – Combine elements to make different stones that evolve Pokémon.
• Other –  The other section is most of the time reserved for rewards dropped by wild Pokémon after you make them faint. Most of these other items in Pokémon Conquest are just junk that can be sold back to the shops.

Gold Mine Guide

Mining for gold will give you the necessary gold to buy potions and other helpful items. The amount of gold you get from your dig session depends on the strength between the Warriors and Pokémon that you choose. For an added bonus the Warriors that you choose to dig gold also receive a little bit of a link boost making your Pokémon stronger. Especially in situations where there is no danger from invading Kingdoms you should take the time to dig some gold.
