Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag Guide: Crafting Guide

In Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, you can upgrade both the Jackdaw and Edward. All the items you can craft will take animal skins you can find all over the game. This guide will help you find the pelts so you can upgrade quickly. Let’s get started.

Pistol Holsters

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Crafting Guide

All the animal pelts can be bought at the general store, but they are extremely expensive. In Black Flag, shooting animals with your gun does not damage their pelts.

Pistol Holster 2 – You will be able to carry a second pistol in combat. This takes 2 Ocelot pelts which you get in a mission.

Pistol Holster 3 – You will be able to carry a third pistol in combat. This takes 2 humpback whale skins which you can find harpooning in Castillo de Jagua. The whales will be in between fort Castillo De Jagua and the town of Arroyos.

Pistol Holster 4 – If you have all the holsters you can carry 4 pistols into battle. This will take 2 crocodile pelts, which can be found in Great Inagua near the swamps.

Health Upgrades

Heath Upgrade 1 – This will upgrade your maximum health by 25%. During the first crafting mission you have to complete this one.

Heath Upgrade 2 – You will get another 25% for this one. You will need 2 deer hides which you can find in Salt Lagoon which you go to during the story.

Heath Upgrade 3 – Another 25% to max health on this one. You will need to get 2 jaguar pelts and they can be found on Pinos Isle. If you go south from fort Castillo de Jagua, you will run right into the island.

Heath Upgrade 4 – The final upgrade and it will also be worth 25%, totaling to 100%. You will need to go harpoon some great white sharks for this one.

Ammo Pouches

Pistol Ammo Pouch 1 – You will be able to carry 10 more shots with this bag. You will need 2 wild pig hides, which can be found in Great Inagua right before town.

Pistol Ammo Pouch 2 – Another 10 shots here totaling 20. You will need to go out and harpoon some hammerhead sharks and hammerheads, which can be found in the Gibara part of the ocean, to the left of Great Inagua.

Smoke Bomb Pouch 1 – You will get to carry 5 more smoke bombs if you get this. You will need 2 hutia hides which I got in the Jiguey smuggler area. You can find the cave south of Andreas Island.

Smoke Bomb Pouch 2 – This will get you 5 more smoke bombs totaling at 10 extra. You will need to get 2 rabbit hides, which can be found in Nassau, just outside of the town.

Dart Pouch 1 – You will get to carry 5 more of every dart if you craft this. You will need 2 howler monkey pelts which you can get on Cat Island.

Dart Pouch 2 – Crafting this will get you 5 more of each dart totaling 10 extra. You will need to go harpoon some killer whales. You can do that in the Conttoyor part of the ocean, just south of the fort Conttoyor.

Rope Dart Pouch 1 – This isn’t unlocked until you get to it in story mode. Crafting this will need you 5 more rope darts to use. You will need 2 black jaguar pelts and they can be found on Pinos Isle. If you go south from fort Castillo de Jagua, you will run right into the island.

Rope Dart Pouch 2 – Another 5 from this pouch making for 10 extra in all. You will need 2 pieces of crocodile leather which can be found in Great Inagua near the swamps.

Ammo

Berserk Dart 1 - This isn’t actual ammo — it is just an upgrade to your current ammo. This upgrade will make the berserk target stay crazed for 20 seconds longer. You will need 2 bull shark skins and bull sharks can be hunted in the Punta Guarico part of the ocean, south of the Punta Guarico fort.

Berserk Dart 2 - This one will get you another 20 seconds totaling in 40 extra seconds. You will need 2 Capuchin monkey pelts which I haven’t found yet.

Sleep Dart 1 – With this your targets will stay down for 20 more seconds. You will need 2 black jaguar pelts and they can be found on Pinos Isle. If you go south from fort Castillo de Jagua, you will run right into the island.

Sleep Dart 2 – You will get another 20 seconds with this upgrade making it 40 extra seconds total. You will need 2 great white shark bones

Sleep/Berserk/Rope Darts – All of these will take one bone, which is found on every animal you skin.

Outfits

Feline Pelt Outfit – This can be crafted with 1 ocelot pelt and one jaguar pelt and they can be found on Pinos Isle. If you go south from fort Castillo de Jagua, you will run right into the island.

Shark-hunter Outfit – This can be built with 1 bull shark skin and bull sharks can be hunted in the Punta Guarico part of the ocean, south of the Punta Guarico fort. You will also need 1 hammerhead shark bone and hammerheads can be found in the Gibara part of the ocean, to the left of Great Inagua.

Whaler Outfit – This can be crafted with 3 white whale skins. I haven’t made it to any of these yet.

Hunter Outfit With this one you can get much closer to animals without them running away from you. This will take a red howler monkey skin and a white jaguar pelt. I haven’t found either yet.
