Today, we’re going to cover the Viper School Gear, the first of four sets that we’ll be detailing for you. In this case, it’s only one steel and one silver sword that you’re hunting, but they get the job done in the early hours of the game. The best part is, this gear can be obtained entirely from the White Orchard region, so you don’t have to bother with high level enemies if you’re just starting out.
We should note that some quests and other activities can bring you to the areas where this gear is found, so you may already have some of these diagrams, but still be missing others. If that’s the case, just skip to the diagrams that you don’t have. When you complete the set, head to either an armorer or blacksmith to have them craft your new toys. That is of course assuming that you have the materials required to do so.
In the southeast corner of White Orchard is a place called the Ransacked Village, and near to this is a watchtower that is made of bricks. Locate the watchtower, then move around the base until you see an incline that will allow you to move to the top. Walk and pull yourself up until you’re face-to-face with four Temerian deserters, then quickly do away with them using your sword and signs. When you’re the only thing left alive, loot the entire area, including a chest inside the watchtower itself. It’s in here that you will find the Serpentine Steel Sword diagram. Take it to a blacksmith to have them craft you one.
The final location that you need to visit to complete the Viper School Gear is the White Orchard Cemetery, which can be found just north of the Mill signpost. You’ll see a small brick crypt when you arrive, and if it is your first time there you’ll be greeted by a wraith, as well as a Place of Power that you can draw from. Drive away the wraith, snatch up the magic, and then use your Aard sign to blast down the door to the crypt. Head inside and finish off the wraith, then loot the entire area. You’re looking specifically for a skeleton that will contain the Serpentine Silver Sword diagram.
This will complete your Viper School Gear, but as we mentioned, you’ll outgrow this stuff very quickly. Luckily, you can use the links in the article to see our guides for the Griffin School Gear, Cat School Gear and Bear School Gear. Just keep in mind that finding these diagrams is only one part of the battle. You must also have the materials needed to craft the items, find an armorer and blacksmith skilled enough to take on the job, and even ensure that you're a high enough level to use it. All of this information (besides where to find the armorer and blacksmith) can be found on the diagram itself, so do yourself a favor and spend a moment studying each of them before you get all craft happy.
