Choose the landing zone to the east of Qarya Sakra Ee, and then head for the village itself. You can choose whatever time of day you please for infiltration, but we’re a fan of 18:00 hours, and the cover of darkness that it provides.
You’ll see small hut with no walls and a machine gun a short distance away, and you should be able to peg the guard with one of your tranquilizer darts. If you plan to take a long time, either use the Fulton Recovery Device to extract him, or just shoot him in the face. Keep in mind that sleeping bad guys do wake up.
Head up the hill and you’ll see two more guards, plus a building directly in front of you. The two guards need to go, and the prisoner mentioned in the optional objectives can be found in that nearby building. Carry him outside and use the Fulton Recovery Device to extract him and send him back to your Mother Base.
Continue along the main path you were on until you see a set of makeshift steps that curl off to the right. You want to duck into the alley on the left, going up the hill and taking a right. This will put you on a path with a soldier that patrols the balcony of a building. Take him out, and then head inside to find the Deployment Plans. This will put the location of the two tanks, as well as the colonel, on your map.
The convoy will be moving from west to east, and you can actually wait for it near where you dropped off at the landing zone a short while back. However, in the interest of increasing your time bonus, go back to the main road outside the village and head west. You’re going to want to setup an ambush to take the two tanks out, plus the jeep that the colonel is riding in.
The only real problem you might run into here is that you don’t have powerful enough weapons to take out the tanks. You can plant C4 on the road to take out one (it’s going to take all four of your sticks), but that leaves you needing a rocket launcher to get the second tank, and the colonel’s jeep. If you have one ready to use from your Research and Development team, grab it. If not, then you may need to continue with some side operations until you do. Either that or let the tanks reach Smasei Fort, and then take them out when they’re there. This, however, might hurt your time bonus to the point where you can’t get the S Rank.
When both tanks and the colonel’s jeep are down, you only need to move out of the area to complete the mission. If you’re looking for that S Rank, be sure to pay close attention to the point bonuses. For example, not restarting from any checkpoints will give you an extra 5,000 points, and so will not killing anyone (Haha). If you manage not to trigger the game’s Reflex Mode, where time slows down, you will get an extra 10,000 points at the end. All of this adds up to the 130,000 points you need for an S Rank, but nothing will serve you better than completing the mission as fast as possible. The time bonus should be your key focus.
