Destiny: The Taken King - How to Get the Sleeper Simulant

This guide will show you how to get the Sleeper Simulant, an Exotic Fusion Rifle that players can unlock in Destiny: The Taken King. This quest line requires several steps, and cannot be completed in one day. We’re here to guide you through the process each step of the way, including the four required Curious Transceiver codes.

Before players can embark on this quest this must have found the four DVALIN Fusion Rifle Relics and turned them into the Gunsmith. These are randomly dropped during your time on Earth, the Moon, Venus and Mars. If you’ve put enough time into The Taken King you should have all of these by now, and can continue with the quest.

The First Firewall

Pop a Three of Coins on the boss for a shot at an Exotic.

When you log into Destiny and make your way to Orbit you should have a notification over Earth, leading you to The First Firewall. This is a Level 41 quest that will have players return to Rasputin’s bunker. Once there, prepare to defeat several waves of Hive and Taken Knights. The order that they appear is actually the key to the next part of the puzzle, but we’ll give you the answer here in a minute.

When the waves of enemies are down you will have to defeat a Taken boss, but even players who opt to solo this shouldn’t have much trouble. When the boss falls you should get a drop for the Curious Transceiver, and when you open it in your inventory you’ll have to input four codes. Each Hive Knight you killed represents the top box, and Taken Knights the bottom box. Let’s also assume that the top box is a 0, and the bottom box is a 1. Here are the four codes.

  • 0-1-0-0-1-1-1-0-1
  • 0-1-0-0-1-1-0-0
  • 0-1-1-1-0-1-1-1-0-0
  • 0-1-0-1-0-1-0-0

Shadow Call

The next portion of the quest line will send you back to Earth to complete a mission called Shadow Call. This is a Level 41 quest that takes you back to the area where you completed the Cayde’s Stash mission. This time, however, you’ll be doing it with a four minute timer. We had a good deal of success by ignoring most of the enemies that were in our path and simply running by them.

Your main objective during this mission is to take out the Tortured Wizards that you come across, getting you the IKELOS Fusion Core. This is an exotic drop, but it’s not exactly the Sleeper Simulant… yet.

IKELOS Fusion Core

The core will give you several hints as to what you need to do, and most of them are fairly straightforward. You can try to figure them out for yourself, but if you’re reading this you’re likely more interested in the answer.

  • Ionized Shell Harmonics – Beat the Archive Mission on Venus
  • Heavy Power Coupling – Dismantle a Legendary or Exotic Heavy Weapon
  • Plasma Confinement Control Module 1 – Warsat event on Earth
  • Plasma Confinement Control Module 2 – Warsat event on the Moon
  • Plasma Confinement Control Module 3 – Warsat event on Mars

The tasks above are fairly simple to complete, so we won’t bother with a walkthrough for each part. If you are trying to track down a Warsat in each location, use Destiny Public Events. If you do this on the first day the quest line is active there should be loads of Guardians around doing the same thing.

When you complete those tasks you’ll need to return the IKELOS Fusion Core to the Gunsmith, but before anything else can happen he’ll need some more time. Return to Banshee-44 the following day and he should have the next part of the quest for you.

The Sleeper Stirs

Go back to the Gunsmith and he'll give you the next part of the quest. This requires Guardians to play the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. Strike on Earth at Light 280. Luckily, you are given the benefit of matchmaking, so you shouldn't have trouble finding a fire team to complete this with.

When the boss falls (don't forget to pop your Three of Coins) you'll get a drop called the Sleeper Simulant Weapon Frame. Head back to the Tower and visit with the Gunsmith one more time. He's going to give you the Sleeper Simulant, a 290 Fusion Rifle that goes into your Heavy Weapon slot.

That will bring an end the quest. We're not going to lie, we were a little let down that it wasn't a 310 weapon, but there's always infusion to take care of that, right?
