Guardians can find Xur starting at 5:00 AM EST each Friday, and can visit him any time over the next 48 hours. He leaves the Tower at 5:00 AM each Sunday. He will typically stock an Armor piece for each of the three main classes, as well as an Exotic Armor Engram, and a Legacy Engram. Players can also snag the Three of Coins and Glass Needles, two of the most useful items that Xur sells these days.
You can find Xur near the Hall of Guardians, close to where Eris Morn is located, and even closer to the Crucible Quartermaster, Arcite 99-40. From when you spawn into the Tower, run forward and down the steps. Xur will be on your left after the hallway splits at the bottom of the stairs.
Note: The Glass Needles also require 3 Motes of Light and an Exotic Shard to purchase.
If you don’t have the Year 1 or Year 2 versions of any of the Armor pieces that Xur is selling, you should obviously grab those. Be sure to check your Exotic Blueprints before you buy anything, however, as you can often acquire items at a reduced cost if you have previously unlocked them in the game. For example, you wouldn’t want to purchase a Red Death from Xur if you found it in Year 1. You could just buy it from your Exotic Blueprints kiosk in the Hall of Guardians.
You should always be grabbing the Three of Coins from Xur, as this allows you to get Exotic drops from events such as the Court of Oryx and King’s Fall Raid. You can also pick up the Glass Needles if you’re looking to re-roll some of your Exotic items, although for your average player this may not be a top priority.
Should you be struggling to find things to do in Destiny these days, let us help you collect all of the Calcified Fragments, or get your hands on the Exotic Sword.
