Fallout 4: How to Find the 'Cheers' Easter Egg

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. With this in mind, Fallout 4 has included a quaint little easter egg inside the Prost Bar, just outside of Boston Common. Actually, no one there knows your name, considering the patrons who frequented the place have since turned to skeletons. In case you couldn’t guess, this easter egg is a reference to the 80’s television show “Cheers”, and this guide will tell you where to find it.

The easiest way to find this bar is to Fast Travel to Swan’s Lake, just outside of Boston Common. If you haven’t been to this area before, we advise that you do NOT wake the swan in the lake, or at least do so at your own risk. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Prost Bar Easter Egg Fun Facts

  • “Prost” means “Cheers” in German.
  • Both Cheers and Fallout 4 take place in Boston.
  • You can collect baseball grenades on the desk in Sam’s office, along with a baseball glove.
  • Strategically placed skeletons represent the Cheers cast members, including Cliff and Norm.

From the Freedom Trail fountain, walk straight across toward the gazebo, and continue down the path leading to the street at the backside of the lake. At the intersection on the corner, you will find a ramp leading down to a blue door, behind a spiked metal fence. Approach the blue door, and proceed to enter the Prost Bar.

Cheers fans will easily see the resemblance of the Prost Bar to that of the 80’s TV show set. The layout is mostly the same, with some slight variations. The bar entrance appears to be the same door that characters enter from in the show. Look above the bar to notice a familiar bell hanging on the center column. There is a jukebox off to the side, though it’s slightly out of position.

As you walk around to the side of the bar, Cheer’s fans will notice a pair of skeletons who are meant to represent Cliff and Norm, sitting in their signature spots at the end of the bar. Even Cliff’s postman hat is sitting beside them on the bar counter. Behind the bar, there is a skeleton in a dress who may represent Carla, or perhaps Rebecca. There’s also a pair of skeletons on the floor of the bar who may be the main couple, Sam and Diane.

Toward the back of the room there’s Sam’s office, labelled with an Employee’s Only sign and decorated with the appropriate baseball memorabilia. If you have a high enough rank of the Lockpicking perk, make sure to snag the contents in the Master-locked steamer trunk at the back of the office, or bring Cait along to help. Around the corner, there’s the hallway that leads to the restroom and a pool room, all of which is found in the Cheers bar.

It’s always fun to find references to pop culture in video games, and knowing Bethesda, there are surely plenty more easter eggs like this one to discover in Fallout 4. Head over to our Fallout 4 Walkthrough and Guide for more features and tips.
