Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 – Marvel Characters Assist Guide
The purpose of this guide is to better explain how each of the three assists work for each of the characters. This will not give specific combos of characters but aims for you to better understand how each of the assists work, their range and general versatility of each of the three attacks available from each. It will also tell what hyper combos are used by the character while they are your ally.

Character – Hyper Combo
Assist (Hyper Combo) - Assist attack name.
Description of attack.
Marvel Characters
Wolverine – Fatal Claw or Berserker Barrage X
Alpha (Fatal Claw) – Tornado Claw Medium
Knocks down your opponent. Can be used as an anti-air defense assist, but must be activated very early.
Beta (Berserker Barrage X) – Berserker Slash Medium
Appears, charges a set distance then attacks the opponent. Auto faces opponents, so can be used to easily. Mix with Projectiles to cover Wolverine.
Gamma (Berserker Barrage X) – Berserker Barrage Medium
A short range slash. Alright reach for an attack, good for a quick few hits in a combo or to extend a different combo a little further.
X-23 – Rage Trigger
Alpha – Neck Slice
A mid-level attack with a short range. Some Anti-Air defense is possible.
Beta – Ankle Slice
A low-level attack which can used in combos to knock your opponent off the ground. It has some use to hit unguarded areas.
Gamma – Crescent Scythe H
This offers a great ending hit to many combos. Worth considering if you lack an up-close mode of hitting your foes.
M.O.D.O.K. – Hyper Psionic Blaster
Alpha -
Creates a short lasting shield that will deflect most attacks that are not hyper combos.
Beta - Hyper Balloon Medium
A short lasting projectile that will cause spinning knockdown.
Gamma - Psionic Blast Medium
A short range beam attack. Gives options for projectile-less characters and good combo extension.
Hulk – Gamma Tsunami/Quake/Crush
Alpha - (Gamma Tsunami) Gamma Wave Medium
Ground traveling projectile. Will knock down those its hits.
Beta - (Gamma Quake) Gamma Charge M Anti-Air
An up-angled charge that can absorb one hit. It proves anti-air defense, but needs more time to set-up than a regular attack.
Gamma - (Gamma Crush) Gamma Charge M
A fast forward charge reaching a good range toward your opponent. It can absorb a hit as well.
Magneto – Magnetic Shockwave/Tempest/Shockwave
Alpha - (Magnetic Shockwave) Electromagnetic Charge
Far reaching beam. Can cause knock down. Good, moderately fast projectile.
Beta - (Magnetic Tempest) Hyper Gravitation Medium
Slower moving projectile. Can incapacitate foes if the first part of it hits. The second projectile will cause knock down on an incapacitated foe.
Gamma - (Magnetic Shockwave) Force Field
A counter attack, causes spinning knockdown if a physical attack hits. Can also nullify medium projectiles.
Storm – Hail Storm or Lightning Storm
Alpha - (Hail Storm) Whirlwind Medium
Mid-hitting a short range projectile.
Beta - (Hail Storm) Double Typhoon Medium
Good range, high reaching assist attack.
Gamma - (Lightning Storm) Upwards Lightning Storm
Up angled projectile attack.
Phoenix – Phoenix Rage
Alpha - TK Shot Medium
Phoenix - A projectile that will explode when hit or it hits. Short range.
Dark Phoenix - Fires two projectiles
Beta - TK Overdrive L
Nullifies projectiles while active.
Gamma - TK Trap H
Phoenix - A short lasting trap that will cause wall bounce if activated.
Dark Phoenix - A short lasting trap that will cause wall bounce if activated.
Iron Man – Proton Cannon, Angled Proton Cannon
Alpha - (Proton Cannon) Unibeam Medium
Full-screen beam at mid-level.
Beta - (Angled Proton Cannon) Repulsor Blast Medium
Knocks down opponent, medium reach with potential for knock-down on a hit.
Gamma - (Proton Cannon) Smart Bomb High
Potential Off The Ground hit. Two low-hitting projectiles.
Super Skrull – Inferno or Skrull Torch
Alpha - (Inferno) Stone Smite
A hit that can knock your opponent off the ground. Short range with the potential to wall bounce your opponent.
Beta - (Inferno) Orbital Grudge Medium
If hits, launching out to mid-screen, knocks down opponent.
Gamma - (Skrull Torch) Tenderizer High
An up-angled attack that can knock down your foe.
Dead Pool – Happy-Happy Trigger
Alpha - Quick Work Light
A low hitting attack that reaches a short ways upwards.
Beta - Katana-Rama High
A hit capable of knocking opponent off the ground. Can cause ground bounce.
Gamma - Trigger Happy High
10 Up-angled shots fired. Some anti-air potential.
Dormammu – Chaotic Flame or Stalking Flare
Alpha - (Chaotic Flame) Dark Hole Medium
Knocks down opponents with a beam attack.
Beta - (Chaotic Flame) Purification Light
Short range beam that can cause spinning knockdown.
Gamma - (Stalking Flame) Liberation
Depends on Creation and Destruction points stored while Dormammu is the active character.
None: Short range burst centered on Dormammu
Creation 1: A short reaching spike bursts from the ground.
Creation 2: Better reaching spike from the ground. Some juggle possibilities
Creation 3: Covers entire ground, locking opponent on the ground.
Creation Mix: Anti-air and Off The Ground potential as a meteor swarm falls.
Destruction 1: Short forward burst attack.
Destruction 2: Large explosion in front. Stopping attack.
Destruction 3: Huge explosion covering maximum distance across the screen.
Destruction Mix: A pillar spews up-angled meteors that knock your opponent to the ground. Very potent.
Spider Man – Crawler Assault
Alpha - Web Ball Light
A projectile that will incapacitate your foe for a few seconds.
Beta - Web Swing High
Swing across the screen that hits high.
Gamma - Spider Sting
Quick up-swing attack.
She-Hulk – Emerald Cannon
Alpha - Torpedo
A low attack that can knock your opponent off the ground.
Beta - Clothesline
Dashing attack that will absorb one hit.
Gamma - Somersault Kick M
Up-angled quick attack.
Thor – Mighty Thunder/Tornado
Alpha - (Mighty Thunder) Mighty Spark Medium
Fast starting beam attack.
Beta - (Mighty Tornado) Might Smash
Smashes into the ground. Can knock your opponent off the ground.
Gamma - (Mighty Tornado) Mighty Strike M
Slams hammer into the ground.
Captain America – Hyper Charging Star or Hyper Stars and Stripes
Alpha - (Hyper Charging Star) Shield Smash Medium
Throws his shield, can interrupt other projectiles.
Beta - (Hyper Stars and Stripes) Stars and Stripes
Up-rising attack able to knock down your opponent.
Gamma - (Hyper Charging Star) Charging Star Medium
He charges a ways across the screen, shield first. Negates all projectiles.
Doctor Doom – Photon Array or Sphere Flame
Alpha - (Photon Array) Plasma Beam Medium
Cross-screen beam, mid-level.
Beta - (Photon Array) Hidden Missle
A short lasting trap that will cause wall bounce if activated. Capable of knocking your opponent off the ground.
Gamma - (Sphere Flame) Molecular Shield Medium
Short lasting barrier that will block a small number of hits.
Taskmaster – Legion Arrow
Alpha - Aim Master Light
Projectile fired at a low angle.
Beta
Projectile fired at a medium angle.
Gamma
Projectile fired at a high angle.
Sentinel – Hyper Sentinel Force or Plasma Storm
Alpha - (Hyper Sentinel Force) Sentinel Force Light
Launch 3 projectiles.
Beta - (Hyper Sentinel Force)Sentinel Force Heavy
3 drones drop 5 bombs.
Gamma - (Plasma Storm) Rocket Punch Light
Blocks projectiles. Knocks down foes with a downward extending punch.
Shuma-Gorath (DLC) – Hyper Mystic Smash/Ray
Alpha - (Hyper Mystic Ray) Mystic Ray Heavy
Low angled blast that can knock your foe off the ground.
Beta - (Hyper Mystic Smash) Mystic Stare Light
Sets of eyes fly across the screen, attach to foe and later detonate.
Gamma - (Hyper Mystic Smash) Mystic Smash Heavy
Shoots projectile at a downward angle.
