Mortal Kombat Walkthrough Chapter 1 - Johnny Cage

The whole game opens very appropriately for Mortal Kombat, with a field full of corpses of the various characters. You find Raiden and Shao Khan squaring off, with Khan about to claim victory.

It heads back in time to the very first Mortal Kombat Tournament with Shang Tsung as its champion. He explains what the Tournament is in brief, that it is the tenth in the series which will lead to the fall of Earth Realm. Johnny Cage is the first combatant. The first fight is against Reptile. While he has the ability to become invisible, just watch for the distortion his movements create. He has a pair of projectile attacks as well. This battle is meant more to help you become familiar with the controls, combo system and X-ray gauge at the bottom. While not all of these are used, it is good to at least take the time to understand what is going on at a basic level. Beat up Reptile for two rounds to progress.

Next is Baraka. The fight is a bit more serious but nothing too hard to handle. Baraka only has a few or single ranged attacks. His X-ray is based on a standard attack, unlikely Johnny's which is a counter so watch out for it. After two rounds the fight ends and Shang Tsung commands Johnny to finish off Baraka. The actor refuses and Shang Tsung declares that the tournament will resume at dawn. Liu Kang and Raiden explain the basic rules of the tournament to Johnny Cage. He does not take it seriously at all.

Cut to a scene with Sonya Blade trying to reach her unit for support. Johnny comes up and starts hitting on her. This eventually provokes a fight between the two of them. Sonya should be handled more seriously than Baraka as she will use her X-ray attack on you to destructive results. After the second round Kano appears and proceeds to throw Johnny over the edge. He starts beating up the weakened Sonya. Johnny struggles to retain his grip. After Kano tells Sonya she is about to die here at the Tournament, Johnny stunts up back onto the bridge. He explains that he is more awesome than his fans think and squares off against Kano. Again, not so much holding back. You should be getting a feel for how Johnny Cage works at this point. Remember, if you have a full gauge and there's an incoming attack you can use your X-Ray attack on them.

After the fight, Sonya thanks you for your help. She explains of her past with Kano. She explains she is Special Forces but they find out Kano has vanished and she heads off to find her CO, Jax, who is somewhere on the island. She heads off and leaves Mr. Cage behind.
