Alice The Madness Returns Walkthrough Part 2 – Vale of Tears

Walk over the bridge between the two roofs and talk with the Nurse. She will transform and Alice will fall down a hole. One cut scene later you are inside Wonderland for the first time. Head on up the hill in front of you. Take a moment and collect the glowing silver house to collect the first of the memories. Keep going up the hill. Bend to the right to go up the short slope and hop over the gap. After that is a short series of platforms you will need to cross in front of a weeping Alice statue. On the far side, you will briefly see a little girl, follow her down and grab the memory that is sitting just past where you saw her. Drop down and then jump up to the high ledge using the mushrooms in front of you. Step onto the next mushroom to get launched up to the next ledge. Repeat here as well. Walk forward toward the purple pond. Alice now has the ability to shrink at will.

After the cut scene that ensues, walk straight ahead, being sure to grab the glowing memory on the way. Shrink when you reach the keyhole in the wall you are shown to walk through it. Be mindful to walk with your eyes open. On the other side of the keyhole is another memory. Now bounce up onto the next ledge with the mushroom and go through the keyhole on your left. Grab the teeth you see  near the ledge on the far side of the keyhole then drop down. Head to the left and through the next keyhole. Keep small until you pass under the domino held up by a pair of dice. Be sure to look behind the rock near the blue flower that opens, you will find another memory. After that, step onto the blue mushroom. You will be taken to the top of a slide with a number of teeth on it. Collect as many as you can as you go down it.

At the bottom you will find a river of blood. With little where else to go, follow along it. You will find gain the Vorpal Blade at this point. Before you leave this area, be sure to grab the memory that is sitting to the left of where the skeleton was. Smash the snail shells that litter the area for more teeth and to clear your path at the top of the short slope. At the top of it, you will find your first fight of the game. This gives you the basics of the combat system, for locking on, dodging and attacking. Head on through the one archway you see to move forward.

Just through the archway you will find another memory sitting on a ledge. Hop up and grab it. After that, collect the teeth to the left of it. A mushroom should pop out of the ground as you do which you will want to step onto. Near the top of the jump, jump again and hold the jump button to make it onto the ledge you are bounced up to.

Now you need to put the skill to serious use. Jump onto the ledges below you continue. On the second ledge, you will need to bounce up on a mushroom. After you do, head to the right to collect your first bottle. Now head to the left-side of the ledge and Jump/Float your way across the gap to the other side. Be sure to collect the bottle that is sitting just to the left. Drop down from the next ledge to grab some more teeth. Walk forward to encounter a “friend” who will ask you to pepper some pig snouts. Grab the Grinder she offers you and head through the door that opens.

When you pass through that door you will be introduced to a new enemy, the Bolterfly. They are easy to destroy but you need to take out the next to stop them from attacking. Follow the instructions to easily dispatch them. After you will find the first pig snout. Shoot it full of pepper and then follow it back int othe Duchess's kitchen. Slash open the basket she offers then head on through the newly opened keyhole to your left.

Through there you have a number of Bolterfly nest to deal with after you pepper the snout. Once you defeat them and the slime babies. After you defeat them, head back to where you encounter the Insidious to find another Snout. Pepper it and hop over to the next ledge. Where there, grab the memory then take the dominoes to the far side of the area. Once there you will encounter another new enemy, the Slithering Ruin. Defeat them to progress forward. The Grinder works very well on them but the vorpal blade can do the job just as well. IF you hop onto the small platform to the left, you will find  a hidden passage behind the rock there. Inside is a bottle and a number of teeth. Follow the rocky path to the right after you clear them out. The scenery will start to take a darker turn at this point.

Jump over to the ledge on the left. Move forward using the mushrooms to clear the black geysers. You will encounter some insidious ruins on your way. Defeat them to make another mushroom appear. Make your way to the right, over a final pair of geysers to find another memory. Make your way back to the main route after that.

Clear the path that opens when the trees fall over. You will find a wrecked train ahead of you. Alice makes a comment on the Hatter as she surveys the wreckage. Here you will find Bolterflies, Insidious and Slithering Ruins. Take out the Ruins first to make the fight a lot easier. After will kill them then you  fire on the bolterfly nest. Once you complete this fight you will have a chance to upgrade your weapons. It is 150 teeth for a vorpal blade upgrade and 475 for the Pepper Grinder. The train wreck will fall but there are a few more things to grab in this area. Search around for a bounce mushroom. Take that up and you will find a bottle waiting for you. After that, head to where the train fell and jump to the platform below. Take the series of mushrooms that follow.

After that, you will see the little girl again run down a train tunnel. Follow her to progress. The way back will be sealed one you are inside the tunnel. Head the only way you can. When you drop down to the sand, you will encounter a new enemy, the Madcap. These take some more effort to defeat. First you will destroy the teacup on their head then you will kill them. After the first wave comes a single additional Madcap with a shield. You must dodge his attack then you can hurt him. Once he is dead, head up the black ramp. As you pass through the madcap village, be wary as there are a number of madcaps that will attack you. When you defeat them all though a bounce mushroom will appear. Head over to it and take it to the top of the ledge then fall down the other side. Shrink you will see not only the platforms that let you progress but a hidden keyhole as well. Through the keyhole is a bottle. After that you just need to walk across the invisible platform that you can only see while small. On the far end you will the little girl again. Once you make it back to solid land you will find another memory waiting for you. Head down the path in front of you. After you round the corner, look to your left to see a snout. Pepper it to open another path to the left with a bounce mushroom on it. Use the mushroom to reach the high platform. Up there you will find a picnic basket with teeth in it as well as teapots with more teeth in them. When you are ready to move forward, climb the stairs to the metal platform. On the far side of the platform you will find the cable car horn. Use it to summon your ride over to the next area.
