Dark Souls Sidequest Part 1 – Estus Flask and Fire Keeper Guide

The Estus Flask is your best friend throughout the game. Over the course of Dark Souls you will find numerous Fire Keeper Souls. These souls can be given to Fire Keepers to upgrade your Estus Flask. The trick is just where they are.

Estus Flask Upgrades:
0 - 300 hp
+1 - 400 hp
+2 - 500
+3 - 600
+4 - 650
+5 - 700
+6 - 750
+7 - 800

Anastacia
The first one you can get help from is located below the Firelink Shrine. If you take the stairs down to the landing below the Bonfire you will find a Mute girl, Anastacia, in the cell below. The door is on the left and takes a little looking to find. Here you can upgrade your Flask as long as you have Fire Keeper Souls.

Note that about the time you go to Blighttown and the Depths, Laurtec goes into the cell and kills Anastacia. This means that you will have a period where you must go to an alternative source to upgrade your Estus Flask. However, it is possible to revive Anastacia with some effort.

Daughter of Chaos
Under the bell in Quelaag's Domain, the daughter of chaos is found down a hidden passage. Head down the stairs behind the lever for the bell and head straight across. You will find an opening in all the egg-covered walls. Hack at it to reveal a hidden passage. Through there you will find an egg carrier who will talk with you and ask if you are a new servant of his lady. Answer yes and he will let you through. Through there you will find a Spider Woman akin to the Chaos Witch Quelaag, this is her sister. Without the old witch's ring though you cannot talk with her. You can still interact with her and get your Estus Flask reinforced.

Fire Keeper of Anor Londo
Found by the first bonfire in Anor Londo. You need to head down the nearby stairs and meet the giant knight. Either fight him or run past into the next room with two knights. These will not attack you unless you get too close. Proceed on through the chamber and head left. Go down the stairs you find here to get to the Bonfire.
