Dark Souls Walkthrough Part 14 – Great Hollow

With Blighttown done, it is time to gather up some new rewards and open up the possibility of another covenant very soon. Make your way back across the lower level of Blighttown to the area where you could head up. Keep going past that to the next slope. Take this up, which has a number of leeches around it, and hit the walls to reveal their true ethereal nature. Follow this path and take the ladder down to reach the Great Hollow's Bonfire. Rest up and repair your equipment.

From here head down the narrow path. There are a number of places you can drop down onto lower branches. The first time you can, drop safely over the branch to the left then make your way into the hollow tree nearby to get the Cloranthy Ring. Now drop down to the bottom of the hollow tree and head to the right. Keep an eye out for small glowing lizards. These are rare enemies with great drops so kill them when you can. Explore the area but be warned that there are Basilisk around so you need to worry about getting cursed.

When you make it to the roots at the bottom of the tree walk around it and look for a hole. Along the edge you will find a ladder. Take that down, deal with the Basilisk and then grab the Large Nameless Soul. Now just continue downwards along the spiraling roots. Once they change to mushrooms you need to be on guard again. There you will find Mushroom Man Children to kill, who are durable but very little damage. After that you have a trio of Mushroom Men who dish out serious damage but always drop Gold Pine Resin. Continue down and go through the White Light to find Ash Lake.
