You get the mission "A New Master" after completing "Slaying the Beast"
Open the mission log:
A New Master
Upsetting Overseer Tremel's plans for you, Darth Baras has summoned you to his chambers on the second floor of the Sith Academy.
Climb to the Sith Academy 2nd floor. Baras is in a room to the NE. But first you run into Teeno and Phyne, and another two acolytes who are waiting for you. Teeno asks if you are the one whom Darth Baras summoned. Phyne tells you that if you need anyone dealt with, they will do it. Teeno clarifies that what she means is that they will kill Vemrin for you. There are rules. Acolytes are not to openly kill one another. Everyone knows of your rivalry. If you kill him, the lords will presume your guilt. But if Vemrin croaks while you got an alibi, people might be suspicious, but they won't be able to pin it on you.
Your options are:
Consider me nodding (DARK)
This isn't how I'll handle it
Are you capable
If you choose the first option, you receive 50 dark points. You tell them you would not be upset if Vemrin turns up dead. They tell you that they will handle it with utter discretion and that Vemrin is a dead man.
If you choose any of the other options, Phyne wants them to prove themselves to you. Whatever you reply, they spar with you. Defeat them. They are astonished that you took all four of them apart. This changes everything. Vemrin's every bit your phsical equal so if they can't handle sparring against you, how can they kill Vemrin?
Your options now are:
Yes, give it up (LIGHT)
Go ahead. Try killing him (DARK)
Vemrin's nothing. (NEUTRAL)
If you tell them to give it up and steer clear of Vemrin, you receive 50 light points and they give up on that idea.
If you tell them to go ahead and try killing him, they are happy that you think they are up to the task, and they will go to try and kill him.
If you choose the third option, you tell them that Vemrin is just a lot of big talk and reputation. He gets by on the illusion of strength. They still want to kill him and become your allies.
Next, speak to Darth Baras. Klemral and Vemrin are also there, as Darth Baras dismisses them. Vemrin tells you that he underestimated you by sending Dolgis. Darth Baras asks you if you are having trouble with acolyte Vemrin. Tell him that Vemrin is playing with fire. If he insists on getting in my face like that, he's going to have trouble with me. Darth Baras tells you that Vemrin has been hardened into a lethal machine. He has paid his dues, fought a deck stack against him to get here. But you, your warblade came early, prisoners flown in for your convenience, even a beast here on Korriban instead of offworld in the wild. The pacing of the trials is deliberate. Only full immersion over time produces results. Your mind is soft, unhoned, undisciplined. The first month of trials should be dedicated to philosophy, conceptual tactics, understanding of the Sith Code.
Darth Baras asks you to recite the Sith Code for him and explain its meaning in battle, war and politics. Unfortunately, Overseer Tremel hadn't taught you this code. You can try to [BLUFF] your way and your character will mumble something about the dark side and the light side. But Baras can read a lie from a nascent Force user with his eyes closed. Baras is your Master now. Tremel was becoming lax before you ever arrived. His unwilingless to adapt to the evolving Sith paradigm has become a liability. These are the actions of a traitor and traitors are executed.
Darth Baras proceeds to tell you he will grant you immunity for punishment, and he wants you to kill Tremel and bring back his hand as proof.
Your dialog options will be:
Of Course (NEUTRAL)
If I have to (LIGHT)
My dream come true (DARK)
Your task now is to do as Darth Baras commanded, go find Overseer Tremel in his chambers in the Sith Academy and carry out Baras's orders. Baras asks you how come you came back so fast. Tell him Baras ordered you to kill him. You will now fight Tremel. Once you defeat him, speak to him again.
Your first dialog options will be:
You fought well [Kill Tremel] (DARK)
I just need your hand
You sicken me. [Kill Tremel] (DARK)
If you tell him you just need his hand, he understands that Baras demands his hand as proof of his death. But Tremel doesn't want your pity. Your next dialog choice:
I'm saving you (LIGHT)
Your choice (LIGHT)
Okay, then die [Kill Tremel] (DARK)
If you save him, he uses his lightsaber to cut off his own hand and then says he will leave Korriban Covertly and go into hiding. Now, you must deliver Tremel's hand to Darth Baras. Go to his chambers on the second floor of the Sith Academy.
Darth Baras takes Tremel's hand and gives you the ring as a memento. Remembering the past can strengthen resolve and embolden the spirit. You have taken your first step to understanding the Sith Code. Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, we gain strength. Through strength, we gain power. Through power, we gain victory, and through victory, our chains are broken. The Force shall set us free. By embracing the code and destroying Tremel, you have freed yourself from his shackles and escaped his fate.
Darth Baras now gives you your next trial. There are sacred ruins in the tomb of Tulak Hord. The ancient inscriptions that once adorned the walls of each ruin like in pieces. You will venture through the entire tomb, search all of the ruins, and bring Baras a shard from each of these inscriptions. You will do this or you will die. Vemrin and his other acolytes have already been sent. There are no rules regarding how they secure the shards, and they will stop at nothing. Fight your way through the tom of Tulak Hord in the Valley of the Dark Lords, and Bring Darth Baras the shards from each of the ruined shrines.
This completes the mission "A New Master" and starts "Sith Arithmetic"
