The Witcher 2 Walkthrough Part 4: Blood Of His Blood

You begin this quest with Foltest on the other side of the large wooden gate, now opened. He is talking to his Archpriest and another of his advisors, Tailles. Foltest asks about his children, worried that they may have been injured during the combat. The Archpriest speaks vaguely about the whereabouts of Foltest’s children. Use Axii during the conversation to magically persuade him into revealing their location. Tailles chides you angrily for using magic in a sacred place, and you can choose to slap him to get the approval of Roche.

Nothing much worthwhile is in this area. The room behind you contains a few crafting materials, as well as a book on Nekkers which will prove useful when facing them later. Otherwise, there are just a few random items of clothing lying around.

Leave the chamber and find Foltest waiting for you outside at a massive bridge. As you walk across the bridge, the dragon swoops back down and attacks again. Instead of running away like before, this time you must complete a quick time event to dodge the dragon’s attacks and escort Foltest safely to the other side. You have to press the right mouse button at the right time to dodge the dragon several times before finally hitting the S key and the right mouse button to jump away from the dragon to the safety of the solar. When the dragon attacks again, click the right mouse button again to plunge your silver sword into the beast’s mouth. The dragon will fly away, taking your silver sword with you. If you haven’t imported a save from The Witcher, your first priority upon reaching the next town should be replacing your silver sword. If you have imported a save, however, your weapons from the previous game should still be in your inventory.

From here, collect the various items and orens stored about the room and proceed up the stairs to view a cutscene which will reveal the reason for Geralt’s imprisonment. Disguised as a monk, an assassin has infiltrated Foltest’s security and now sits with the children. As Geralt lets his guard down, the assassin kills Foltest and escapes, leaving Geralt to take the blame. A group of soldiers barges into the room and attacks Geralt, dragging him off to the dungeons to await his punishment.
