The Witcher 2 Walkthrough Part 6: A Rough Landing

You begin this quest as your ship docks at Flotsam. Before doing anything else, loot the sparkling red chest under the mast. Then talk to Triss and Roche to begin the quest. Jump over the edge of the ship and walk with them through the swamp and up onto the forest path. Roche grows ever more paranoid that you are being watched by the elves, until finally his suspicions are confirmed and Iorveth, leader of the Scoia’tael, reveals himself.

An argument ensues. Tell Triss to ready her paralysis spell. Then tell Iorveth that the Scoia’tael is just a pawn in a greater scheme. This will anger him and distract him, allowing Triss to fire off her spell. Unfortunately, it backfires and a small army of elven archers will appear from the forest. Triss uses magic to repel their arrows, but she begins weakening quickly. Roche slings her over his shoulder and begins marching off down the forest path, hoping to reach Flotsam proper before you are overwhelmed by elves.

Follow Roche and defend him, making sure to stay inside of the shield spell at all times. Staying in the shield grants you a 10% bonus to damage reduction, without which this section can be quite difficult. Three groups of two elves will attack from behind Roche. Make sure to take them out quickly so that they don’t overwhelm you. A good strategy to use in this scenario is to cast Quen and Yrden coupled with heavy melee attacks as the enemies are trying to recover. After those groups attack, look towards the front of the path to find two more elves attacking. Defeat them as well, sticking close to Roche the whole time.

When you reach the town entrance, the Scoia’tael will retreat, but not before granting Geralt a glimpse of the Kingslayer. Roche and Geralt lament that the Kingslayer now knows Geralt’s weakness, namely, Triss. The townsfolk are naturally a little suspicious of your group, having fled into town under heavy attack from the Scoia’tael. Triss and Roche defuse the situation, and although some townsfolk are suspicious of Geralt because he is a Witcher, they allow you to enter the town, thus ending the quest and earning you 1,000 experience points.
