The Witcher 2 Walkthrough Part 18: At A Crossroads: Scoia'tael and Vernon Roche

Following the completion of Where Is Triss Merigold? you will have to choose between supporting the Scoia’tael and helping Roche. Your decision here naturally plays a big part in how the rest of the game will be shaped, and each choice leads to a different mission that you must complete next, so take some time out to consider your options before making a move. Zoltan, as a Scoia’tael sympathizer, asks that you at least hear the elves out before dismissing them outright. You can do this by heading to the elven ruins, where you will make a plan to free Iorveth if you had him captured earlier, and flee with him to Aedirn. This scheme leads to a prison break mission in which you can work alongside Iorveth, depending on whether or not you handed him the sword. Don’t agree to this plan right away. Instead, say that you’ll think on it and seek out Roche to listen to his plan of action.

Dandelion, on the other hand, will urge you to seek council with Roche before making your choice. Roche can be found in the building directly to the left of the pub. If you helped Iorveth earlier by handing him a sword, Roche will take out some of his anger on you before admitting that he still needs your help. Roche and the Blue Stripes want to remove Loredo from power because it has recently been confirmed that he has been disloyal to Foltest and his kingdom. For this, Loredo has been sentenced to death. The plan is to ambush him when he is seeing a guest, a merchant from Kaedwen. You’ll have to sneak into the compound, kidnap the merchant, and kill the crooked captain of the guard.

Now it is time to make your decision. You can either move into Act II with the support of Iorveth or Roche. If you want to help the Scoia’tael, head back to the elven shrine and agree to support Iorveth. Otherwise, stay in the Blue Stripes headquarters and tell Roche that he has your support. Accepting one mission will block out the other. Either way, you’ll earn 50 experience points for making your decision.
