There are four Fragments located in this version of Yaschas Massif, one of which must be obtained by beating a powerful optional boss battle. Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves, though; the other three are relatively simple to obtain and shouldn’t take you very long at all.
The first is the Orb of Clotho Fragment. You’ll have to head to the Paddraean Archaeopolis to begin this quest. Once there, speak with the NPC named Marlow, who will ask you to obtain the Stone Tablet for him. This should already be in your inventory from the last time you were here, so hand it over to complete the quest and receive the Orb of Clotho Fragment.
The next Fragment is the Sword of Lachesis, located on the raised area of the Pass of Paddra. You will have to speak with Bridget, who will ask you for a flower that only grows during an eclipse. If you have the Fruit of Fenrir from earlier, you may simply hand it over now. Otherwise, you’ll have to return to this location in 10AF to collect it. Give Bridget the Fruit of Fenrir and she will hand you the Sword of Lachesis Fragment and 300 experience points in return.
The third Fragment is the Mirror of Atropos, and is located in the Paddraean Archaeopolis. Find the NPC named Lester in the main square and speak with him. He will ask you to collect three Falling Stars and return them to him. The first, the Emerald Crystal, is located in a chest inside of a hole in the far left side of the Pass of Paddra. You’ll have to use Moogle Throw to get to it. The second, the Onyx Crystal, is found in a chest to the south of the middle barrier. The barriers will be marked on your map by red circles, so head there to search. It will be on a pile of stones, but you will have to use Moogle Hunt to reveal it, as it is hidden at first. The third, the Ivory Crystal, is located in a chest beneath a metal walkway next to the Gate in the south. Trade the three Crystals to Lester for the Mirror of Atropos Fragment and 300 experience points.
The final Fragment in this area must be obtained from the boss Gorgyra. While you’re in the Paddraean Archaeopolis, speak with Duncan near the base of the ramp. From here, proceed to the clearing in the southwest of the Pass of Paddra and run around until the boss appears, just like if you were trying to fight a normal random encounter.
Boss Battle: Gorgyra
Gorgyra delights in plaguing your party with status effects, so be careful and always have a counter to status ailments and debuffs available. She will also cast Doom if the battle goes on for too long, rendering your efforts thus far basically useless. In order to beat this boss, you’ll have to be quick. Finally, Gorgyra is highly resistant to attack before being staggered, so focus on attacks that will build the Chain Gauge. Switch Paradigms frequently to make use of ATB Refresh, which recharges your ATB Gauge automatically as long as at least 12 seconds have passed since you changed Paradigms. By switching between two offensive Paradigms, such as Slash and Burn and Diversity, you should be able to build up the Chain Gauge faster.
Deshell is also strong against Gorgyra. Weaken her defenses, attack with everything you’ve got, and keep yourself healed until the boss is staggered. Upon staggering her, use the Ultima Arrow and Friendly Fire abilities if you have them, as they will boost your damage output heavily. Attack with Aggression or Cerberus to finish the battle quickly.
