SSX Walkthrough Part 2: JT2: Race It

Your first true, non-tutorial event will be a downhill race against Elise, Kaori, and Alex. The focus here is on speed, not points. Don’t use any Nose or Tail presses. Instead, use flips and spins to earn points to maintain your boost. Enter the equipment store before you begin the event. Equipment is semi-randomized each time you enter the store. You probably won’t have enough credits for any of the suits on display, but you’ll have enough for a new board. If you find anything speedier than your current board, feel free to pick it up. But at this early stage, the options are likely not too great.

Begin the run. You only have to beat one person to come in the top three and score a win, but higher positioning equals higher experience points at the end of the race so try to perform well. Board over the glowing read areas to pick up flares an earn 1,000 points for the “Pieces of Flare” “trick.” Use these points to maintain your combo while you are on the ground.

Go off of the center jump at the very beginning of the race, grabbing the flare along the way, and stick to the right to grind on a red rail. Grind it to its end, where you will be deposited in front of a log. Use LT to grind up the log and through the abandoned railroad tracks. This will get you and early surplus of points. After the railroad tracks you will see several rails and jumps going off in different directions. Go wherever you please here, but keep in mind that there will be a large sinkhole in the middle of the area after this area. Stick to one side or the other to avoid falling in.

After you pass the sinkhole, stick to the center of the path to catch big air off of the next jump, Stick to the left after the jump and launch yourself off of the left side to grab a collectible as you fall down the next big air spot. From here, speed towards the right-hand wall and launch off of it for massive air. This should easily be enough to fill up your Tricky. By maintaining a smooth run with lots of grinds and spins, you can stay in Tricky to boost to the bottom from here. If you’re just in it to win the race, you can definitely do this. There are, however, a few more collectibles to be found hovering around the track.

Two more big jumps will follow this area. Grind the rail after the jumps to reach the train tracks in the upper left, and then grind the train tracks to their conclusion in the upper right. Jump off of the jump at the end of this path to grab another collectible. Boost through the shaft and take a big jump to the left for a third collectible. Boos down the left-hand side to the finish.
